Life's Too Short!!

Made all the final arrangements for my trip to Israel at Christmas! : ) Of course, getting some not so positive feedback and concerned looks from friends and family. "Why would you want to go to the Middle East--especially Israel!--at this time?" Hey! Life's too short to worry about that stuff. You could go on and on about safety in the airports, on the airplane, in a foreign country, but the truth is, if you make a habit of that, pretty soon you won't be getting off your sofa!

Now is the time to do what I want to do when I want to do it. It keeps me focused on getting healthy and staying fit so I can do all that walking--just like Jesus and his disciples did.

Can't wait to try all that great (vegetarian) food! No worries about water cleanliness and proper handling of food since it will all be kosher or halal. They are so strict. Not like when I was in Zambia where I ate a grasshopper and a termite (on purpose) because they prepared the food for us. Couldn't choke down the caterpillar, I'm afraid. : /

I wonder if insects count as meat? Hmmmm....

My Goals:
Lose 40 lbs.
Gain some muscle in my arms
Go semi-vegetarian for life
Do some exercise every day


My Program:
Plan for the next day's meals the night before.
Walk (3.5-4 mph) every day.
Starting step aerobics at least 3x a week.
Begin strength training with stretch bands.
Limit diet Coke to a couple of times a week, if that.
Make a plan--follow the plan!



Personal Information:
I was born in Cleveland, OH but lived most of my life in the Akron area. Lived a few years in Santa Barbara, CA during jr. high. Lived in SE Michigan (Novi, Livonia, Northville) for 28 years. Lived in Tucson, AZ for 1 year caring for my father after his open heart surgery.
Single for 8.5 years now.
Have four children and 5 grandchildren, so far.
Active in my church and in volunteer opportunities, mostly having to do with providing food for people.

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I do not follow a specific diet, just increasing the fruits and veggies and counting calories and trying to make them count. My skin always feels so refreshed after a facial. I try to get one a month, but don't always make it.

I started my journey on 09/05/2006 and I did not expect for it to happen....I lost 30lbs in 4 months!!!

It does become a habit and you will succeed. This is a GREAT site and best of all it's FREE!! You have nothing to lose but weight and you are motivating soooo many which is the BEST FEELING EVER!!

and remember if motivation leaves you, find will power and reel him on in :)
