52 years old and trying to get healthy for a better quality of life. My starting weight was 220 lbs., over the last year I lost and gained the same 10 lbs over and over. Recently I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, this was a wake up call for me. I got serious with my diet and exercise, with the help of the Diabetes Educators, and Dieticians. I've already lost 12 lbs and am below 200 lbs for the first time in years.....my journey has just begun. 1/1/2009 - Started out doing real good, lost 40 lbs., but then my husband was injured in a motorcyle accident and I spent the next three months nursing him back to health. I totally went off the wagon and gained 10 lbs back :-(. He has gone back to work now and so I am going to concentrate on getting back on track. 1/13/2010 - Well, I had all good intentions last year, but just couldn't get any consistency going so I didn't lost ANY weight! :-( So, it's a new year now and I am feeling much more motivated than I have been, also my hubby is working out with me and logging his food/fitness in the tracker also. It makes it so much easier when you are not doing it alone. I have already lost about 6 lbs, and a couple inches since starting back. We have set up a rewards system for ourselves to help keep the motivation going. We have also added strength training into our workouts, so now I am doing cardio 5 days a week, and strength training 3 days a week. I am determined to make this lifestyle change permanent in my life!
