Update: After watching the movie The Cove I made the jump to full vegetarian, The movie gave me the push to finally give up seafood. That has not been quite as easy as giving up meat, I really like seafood, so it has been more of an effort, but so far no seafood since Dec 27, I just had my one year anniversary for no meat, and that really hasn't been a problem, I am not sure if I can totally give up seafood...but I am going to really do my best. I went to our favorite Chinese restaurant last week and ate no seafood, and of course no meat. It was hard passing up the Crab Rangoon, but I did it. I just kept thinking of The Cove, and the urge to eat it passed. I am trying... to be better... and how can ido that if I am causing harm to other beings on this earth & to MYSELF. I have pretty much felt this way since I was a kid, I feel so much better now that I am following my heart. I have been able to maintain streaks of a vegetarain diet and then occasionally eating fish. I can even go vegan for a while then i lapse back to vegetarian. Then to pescatarian, Ugh! I have been eating vegetarian/pescatarian since January 22,2010, before that I was a flexitarian for a long time. It would have been January 1st but I messed up after being stressed out from a Doctor visit and i goofed up by not thinking about what I was doing. So I had to start over, I am not that concerned, I know if I keep at it eventually it will be second nature. Before that I was a flexitarian and occasionally ate chicken or turkey, I stopped that in January. I stopped all meat in January, I had already stopped pork & milk last year. Dairy is still an issue, but not plain milk, blech, that one was easy, cheese is a struggle still for me though although I am improving. I have Lyme disease , Babesia & Erlichiosis, i am sure i spelled that wrong, lol The Lyme has taken its toll on me, My ears have been ringing since October 2009, yeah totally sux. dang ticks. The Lyme/Babesia has caused damage of demyalization... i know i spelled that wrong too, lol , Sometimes I will have a headache for a week, and it really knocks me down. Sometimes I will be so tired I can barely get through the day and i have to let chores etc wait untl i feel up to it. So getting enough exercise is a challenge, but i try, i try to raise my body temp as much as possible, The Lyme HATES that and i am trying to be as much of a pain to the LYME as it is to me. So there you have it. I am on a quest not just to lose weight but to feel good too, , both physically & spiritually. 2011 Goals Be More like the dog: See the good in people, and show people I am happy they are in my life, Be more like the cat : Be happy with the moment at hand, even if it is a nap and a back scratch Keep better track of workout routine/results Work harder at being a good Vegetarian and eat more healthful plant based meals/ try more new vegetarian recipes / limit my intake of dairy & eggs. Find a way to not eat seafood UGH!!! the thought of that one... shaking my head...the hardest thing so far for me...giving up fish... really put some effort into strength training this year... last year that goal got pushed aside. Strength Train & MEAN IT. Yeah that means do it with conviction & CONSISTANCY. Organize my house, even if it is only one closet at a time. To have more room & less "stuff" that i don't need. Books that have changed me for the better: The unhealthy truth : how our food is making us sick and what we can do about it / Robyn O'Brien, Eating Animals /Jonathan Foer Food Revolution/John Robbins Skinny Bitch / Freedman & Barnouin The Pig who Sang to the Moon/Jeffrey Masson Mad Cowboy / Howard Lyman http://www.gentleworld.org/philosophers. html

My Goals:
To kick this Lyme & Babesia's a$$ out of me and be healthy again. To be as healthy as I can be and to also be as fit as i can, I would love to have some arm strength and some muscles. I think that looks so good. I do need to lose some weight but that is a secondary goal, not primary.
My Program:
I eat garlic like it was a vegetable, of wait is sort of is...a vegatablelol but i eat a lot of it, & spices & herbs like they are candy :O) Anything that is anti-inflamatory or anti-parasitic is on my menu. Food is my medicine along with a whole ton of supplements. I try to raise my body temp as much as possible as often as i can to make my body an uncomfortable dwelling for the Lyme. It seems to help, but still am struggling with killer headaches and fatigue issues.
Personal Information:
I LOVE to read, i like sci- fi literature and a lot of the classics. I like many YA books so i know what my kids are taking in, & mostly enjoy the kids books if they are sci fi. My reading time has been consumed with health books for a very long time, so i struggle to fit in my beloved genre of fantasy/sci-fi, but it is my favorite. one of my favorite hobbies is raising tropical fish, I just love my bettas, my cat & my dog. They are all happy to see me. i don't watch much tv but i do like Grey's Anatomy & CSI Las Vegas & True Blood . Most recently a few discovery channel shows.
