New knees, New Me :-)

I have tried everything to lose weight. I have battled for years with my size and usually end up gaining back more than I lost. I don't have much positive support in losing the weight. I have wonderful, loving people in my life, but they love me as I am and I hear a lot of "there's no reason to lose weight, I love you as you are" from the best of them or "You never keep the weight off, so why bother" from the rest. Nearly 30 years of needing total joint replacements that we thought were not ...

Nearly 30 years of needing total joint replacements that we thought were not possible (not going into the reasons why, they're in the "need to let go" category) really contributed to the weight gains.

1st knee was done 8 weeks ago tomorrow. I am down 20+ pounds, which is great. The knee seems to be taking forever to heal, though. For some reason, I thought that once it was fixed, it would be easy. NOT happening that way. I am having to learn patience (not liking THAT one little bit!)

I haven't seen my husband since about 3 weeks before my surgery (he's a truck driver) which doesn't really help the general crappy "I am SO tired of not being able to DO things" mood.

This being said, I am still glad I had it done. I still plan to do the second one (IF I can ever get this one to cooperate enough to get up and down the stupid steps for the house!)

My amazing mother-in-law got me a Y membership so I can workout in the pool, so I go to a water class 3 days a week now. And since she's a retired nurse, I call her all the time for advice on the annoying high protein I need for the healing. Thank God for my amazing husband, his mom, my son, and SparkPeople. I sure couldn't be making this journey alone!

Wishing you a great coming weekend, keep up the great work, I cheer you on your journey... emoticon emoticon

Hope you enjoy the following poem:

I Asked the Lord to Bless You

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
to guide you and protect you
as you go along the way...

His love is always with you
His promises are true
and when we give him all of our cares
you know He will see us through

So when the road you are traveling on
seems difficult at best
just remember I am here praying
and God will do the rest.

emoticon Thank you! emoticon emoticon

Yeah, try it without the cheese if you want. You could put some potatoes in maybe. The original recipe was for with potatoes instead, and I was like *AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!* and replaced the potatoes with veggies. emoticon

It's saved as "Veggie and Sausage Breakfast Casserole" on spark recipes, though if you're changing it up you may want to recalculate the nutrition. Eh. Leaving out the cheese would just mean you're eating FEWER calories & less fat, so it's not so terrible to overcount I guess!
