SEDONACAT is a SparkPeople Motivator!
I want to stay motivated and maintain a healthy lifestyle so that I can enjoy my retirement & travel with my DH. I've seen too many people retire and then just go downhill, energy and health-wise. This CAN be the best time of my life but it'll take work and commitment. I want to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
1. Lose 5 lb. that I gained while my arm was fractured last summer.
2. Gain muscle strength
3. Increase energy levels
4. Eat healthier & slowly become a vegetarian.
5. Strengthen my bones because I have osteopenia.
6. Stop mindless snacking while reading or watching TV
1. Food Tracking which will keep me honest
2. Working out 3-4 times/wk.
3. Yoga 3-4 /wk.
I'm a retired RN whose most recent job was in a library which I loved. I was a Lamaze-certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) and have done professional labor support (doula) in the past.
WV transplant to Hampton Roads VA with a couple of side trips to live in southern CA. I now live in Central Florida in one of the only two towns in FL that has hills.
Diagnosed with breast cancer 12/23/2007, surg. in Jan. 2008. I remain cancer-free! I do have Fibro and arthritis but try hard not to let them stop me.
Love my husband who is retired from the Navy and was a Merchant Marine for awhile. We're enjoying retirement in Central FL. I have a great son and sweet DIL who live in FL, too. I have 1 dog-a rescued Yellow Lab, Marigold. She has a feline sister, Sedona.
Love to read, garden, do yoga, walk, Wii, and my friends & family. I do volunteer work at a local Genealogy grp and also at a Lab rescue called Houndhaven, Inc.
I'm also a Mammosite Volunteer in FL as a resource for breast cancer patients who will be or have gone thru Mammosite radiation.

All went well with our transplant ans my son is doing superior. He is so anxious to go home and almost running circles around the unit. It will take a bit longer for me but slow and steady wins the race.
Thank you for your kind words of support.

for the pumpkin. Time to make some pumpkin pie. I will make my Mom do it, she makes the best crust from scratch. I haven't ""bothered"" you knowing you have had guests. I like having company but I want my spark time.

HI ! I read your comment on the article of 20 things to do in order to relieve chronic pain.
I also can NOT get a good night sleep as in over 5 hrs. I have learned to wake up every 1 1/2 hr or 2 hrs to just walk around a little. As long as I do that,,, and I DO NOT Allow ANY thinking,,,,, if I start to think about anything,,, i can not go back to sleep. If I am in bed longer than 4 to 5 hrs,,, I just can't move, well other than my tears,,,,,they DO work.
I have lost over 70 lbs,,, it does not me, but helps many with chronic pain. Wish you the BESTEST !

It has come to my attention that you sent me a lovely SparkGoodie plant in September and I never thanked you. Mea culpa! I appreciate your thoughtfulness. My plants will have to be brought into the house soon for the winter. We have had constant rain for several days but Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to be dry so I will try to do it then. We are fortunate to have this mild climate in Oregon where the nights will not get bitterly cold until later in the year. I hope you have a civil climate this year, clear of those horrible coastal storms and also free from the extended reach of Lake Effect storms. Carol
