"We have it in our power to begin the world over again." -- Thomas Paine

I originally started this program to lose weight and tone up for spring break, but it's taken on a life of its own; my entire outlook on the program has changed completely.

Now I'm using SparkPeople as a way to help me with a full "life makeover." I've been stuck in a rut the last couple years of being unhappy, and I've decided it's time to put a stop to it.

I have always had skewed views of food, exercise and weight, even from a young age. I played three varsity sports in high school, and I currently play a college sport, so I've always been in good shape. However, I've always felt fat anyway. I grew up in a house where my father would tell my mother she didn't deserve his love because she was overweight -- undoubtedly those comments embedded themselves in my subconscience.

I have also had a bad string of boyfriends/men in my life who have treated me very poorly. As I work on my physical health, I am aiming to spend a lot of time working on my mental and emotional well-being in an effort to break that cycle in my life.

I started at the end of January 2007 and it's already making a huge difference in my life!
