Mindfulness Project
Over the last several years, I've made huge strides in reframing my thought process from getting skinny to becoming fit and healthy. I've dropped and successfully kept off 10 pounds by getting and staying active. I've taken up running, been boxing, do yoga, lift weights. But my schedule limitations mean I don't have enough time to combat my foodie tendencies purely through exercise. I lead a constant battle with self control over delicious foods. I'm great at home but have serious problems in social eating situations. So as I continue my efforts at a lifestyle change, I want to return to the good habits I inadvertently fell into when I studied abroad in Paris (when I lost 15 pounds in a month)--all those reasons why French women don't get fat, not the least of which is that they practice mindful eating, focusing on the food without multi-tasking, and truly getting full enjoyment from everything they eat. It's a concept that's largely alien in American society and one that we'd all do good to practice. These are the chronicles of my attempts.
