This has been a great year! Last April 4, I realized that I had let myself get entirely out of hand, and that in only 3 months I was going to have my 25th wedding anniversary. For my anniversary, I didn't want to look (or feel) like I currently was looking (and feeling). I decided to do something about it. Now here I am - 30 pounds lighter than last year. Wow - can't believe I did it! I got the last of the weight off about the beginning of October 2008, & as of this ...
I got the last of the weight off about the beginning of October 2008, & as of this morning (January 5, 2009) I still weigh 119 pounds. ________________________________________ __________ This is what I originally wrote in April 2008 - seemed appropriate to leave it here to see the journey! I'm 58, and have been retired for almost 4 years. I kept my weight at 132-133 # for most of my adult life. When my husband and I retired summer 2004, I stopped the exercise program that I had been doing, but continued eating about the same. (Well maybe a little more, because "I'm on Vacation")!!! I gained 10 # fairly quickly. Since that time I have managed to put on another 3-4 # just by not watching what I'm eating, and probably drinking more that I should! On June 4th I will have my 25th wedding anniversary, and would really like to look like I did at my wedding! _______________________________________ UPDATE May 23, 2008: Seven weeks into my weight loss program, and I am only at 141# - doesn't look like I am going to get to 132 by 6/4, so I am going to make a new goal - hopefully realistic - 1. Get under 140 by 6/4/08 (leaving 140-ville), 2. Continue with my food and exercise program until I reach 132#, 3. At current rate, this will be by August 14, 2008. UPDATE on 6/7/08: I made it!! I weighed on May 30, just before we were leaving on our vacation & I was at 139.8. Weighed this morning & I'm now at 137.6 - obviously I was under 140 on my anniversary on 6/4. I've left 140-ville, and checked into 130-ville! Goal #1 under my belt, now I have to work on Goal #2 and Goal #3. ___________________________ UPDATE on 7/7/08: Well I'm at 134 now, and I can definitely see that 132 is not going to do it! I have made a new goal for myself - that is to "leave 130-ville" by 8/8/08. UPDATE on 8/5/08: Got to my revised goal of 126. Whatever I've been doing this last month is working because I've lost 8# in one month - way above my average so far. __________________________ Update on 11-3-08: Seemed appropriate to update today - it has been 30 weeks today since I joined SP. Since that time my weight has gone from 149# to 119# - I would have never dreamed I could loose 30 pounds! My BMI has gone from 24.8 (just barely in the healthy range - a BMI of 25 is overweight) - to 19.8 --- solidly in the middle of the healthy range. My hips have gone from 40.5 to 36 inches - 4.5 inches lost! More importantly however, my waist has gone from 31.5 to 26 inches - that's 5.5 inches off my waist!!!! Also, not something that you can actually measure, but I no longer have a stomach that sticks out, thighs that jiggle, upper arms that flap around, etc., etc., ___________________________ Maintaince goal: Stay +/- three pounds of 122. Weigh daily, and whenever the scale gets 3 # above goal weight go immediately on a diet. ____________________________ My motivational quote: "There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it’s convenient. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results." - Kenneth Bianchard New motivational quote from my new SP friend Tana: "FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION" wow - everytime I think maybe it's not worth the work, I'm gonna remember this!!!

My Goals:
Travel - I have been quite a few places, but I want to go to more! I would like to get my weight down so I can enjoy my travels more. Leave 130-ville by 8/8/08 --DONE 7/28/08 !!! Maintain my weight!!
My Program:
At least 30 minutes of exercise each day. Eat good foods (not fatty things, or fried things, or potato chips).
Personal Information:
Grew up around Denver (Longmont High!), then to Michigan for College - back to Colorado, then to California, then to Nevada, then to California, & finally back to Colorado (hopefully my last move). I have two stepdaughters, and three grandkids. The kids live on the Atlantic Coast (Florida) and the Pacific Coast (California), so since my husband and I are in Colorado we aren't daily visitors!
