Life Is Good

My ultimate goal is to outlive my husband who is 72 and has a resting heart rate of 60. He is 12 years older than I and we both lost our first mates in death. My husband believes that I will live longer than he will all other things being equal. He, however, is in excellent health. He developed the exercise habit when he was much younger and he is extremely consistent.

We've been married 6 years and have a wonderful life. Our relationship is everything I imagined a loving relationship could be. We spend a lot of time together and I want it to go on for as long as possible. This cannot happen if I am not healthy.

I have a predisposition to diabetes and high blood pressure. I feel as if these chronic illnesses are standing at the door waiting for the opportunity to enter my life. I want to live a long, healthy, and whole life. I've gotten fatter over the last 10 years and now weigh more than I ever have (including when I was pregnant). This time I am in it for my life, for life.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose approximately 50 pounds of fat and to get into the healthiest condition of my life. I plan to achieve this goal within 1 year.

My Program:
I am committed to daily exercise and managing my eating. I am using a low glycemic eating plan. I am following the program from The Complete Guide to Walking by Mark Fenton. I am also strength training 2X/week

Personal Information:
I live in Evanston IL. I am a retired college instructor. I have two daughters and one granddaughter.

Other Information:
I love to read, and write. I am writing my memoirs.
My husband and I enjoy biking near and around the Evanston community.

Seriously! We are a pretty mellow group -- old enough not to fuss much, but still with a great spirit of sharing and caring among the active members. Post and let us get to know you! I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you how thrilled I am to see that you are on a LC Diet.
