Scottish Cinema Fan needing exercise!

My weight has snuck up on me slowly . 5 pounds a year added for 10+ years and, well, you can do the math :-) I'm quite a bit overweight! My belly is unhealthy but what I really hate is seeing my big double chin in photos!

The reason I am finally motivated to take action is that my cholesterol tested as quite high when it had previously been normal. I am sure part of the weight gain has been due to meds I now need to take since my eating habits have not changed much. So if anyone ...

So if anyone else out there has that same meds-related challenge I can definitely empathise.

Good luck to everyone else out there in their weight loss campaign! I originally joined in 2008 but didn't take action so I am back again (October 2013) for another try. I have found the book produced by the Sparkpeople book very encouraging now it's time to put it into practice. Now in 2013 I have bought the Audible audio book version of "The Spark" via Amazon and listening to it is quite motivational - I really want to stick at things this time!

My Goals:
I want to lose a significant amount of weight to get from obese to something nearer the advisable weight for my height - I have around 70lbs to lose which is a lot. As Jim Rohn said "How many pounds overweight should a man be when he's 50?" I also want to reduce my cholesterol and get it into a normal healthy person's score.

My Program:
I am going to eat a proper breakfast such as porridge each day, go walking more (even indoors maybe), and reduce the amount I eat of tempation foods such as pizza, chocolate, or crisps :-) I have wasted money going on buying gym memberships and then not going in the past but am going to try a pay-as-you-go gym as well.

Personal Information:
I'm from the Southside of Glasgow in Scotland.

Other Information:
I love the films Before Sunset and Before Sunrise with Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. The movie Casablana is my favourite though all three movies are so romantic! I like movies at the cinema best rather than watching at home and enjoy a cinema called the GFT in Glasgow especially, since it shows lots of foriegn films and watching them is the next best thing to travel!

Thank you very much for the friend add, and your kind comments on my page. I really appreciate it.

If you would like a suggestion on the Leslie DVD's, some of the latest are my favs, where I can combine ST and cardio together. I really like the segments so you can start of slow, and progress. Somedays I do a 20 min workout, and others might be 30-40 min. I love the boosters and enjoy the variety of the bands, belt, and hand weights. This system made a huge difference to me in gaining my waistline back, and of course shape up and tone all over.

I started off with just a goal weight, and found so much more with "Just 10 minutes", and these dvd's. Gaining my figure back, is so much more important to me, than the number on the scale.
