76 Years Old ~~ Still Going Strong!

My word for 2015: Adaptability
Theme for April: "Yarnell, where the desert air meets the mountain breeze!"

My name is Eve. The older you get the harder to lose! I have spent my entire life as a slim, healthy woman. Then at the age of 50 my slim, trim 124 zoomed up to 150 -- and while that may seem like nothing to some of you; I am only 5'2" tall, and it meant exchanging my size 6 to 8 and moving into a size 14! It seemed to happen right before my eyes without me seeing it. ...

In fact, as the years went by I became used to the new weight and ignored it. At 62 I became a widow, and later with dating, the scale found its way up to 162. By the time I turned 69 I decided it was time to take action and in Dec. '07 I joined SP. It's been a learning experience, but I wanted to go slow and steady, and did just that.

For me, it's not a DIET, it's a new Healthy Lifestyle, a change in your habits and activity level and is something that will be with me forever! At the present time I am close to my goal, but even if I stay at this weight, I'm not unhappy.

I am staying positive and try to adapt to the changes that come into my life; just looking for the best in life, it's the only way to stay young and healthy. It's wonderful that people of any age can attain it ~~like that elusive fountain of youth, and that's my goal in life! Remember, "life is what you make it!" Look for the silver lining in every cloud!

By the way, if you're looking for friends -- you're in the right place! EVERYONE on here is a friend as we most likely have the same attitude about healthy living!

the six muffins 540 calories add butter = 610 calories on Cracker Barrel.

I'm within goal for the day provided I don't drink anymore red wine.

Hi, thanks for your comment on the site regarding your IBS. When I first developed it I was reading a blog from New Zealand/Australia. They do a lot more research there than in North America about IBS. They mentioned that the biggest more prevalent trigger for it is onion, onion powder, onion salt. So I figured what the heck might as well give it a trial run. I deleted all signs of onion and onion spices in things and went from 3 attacks a day to 1 a week. It was amazing. It's also amazing what contains onion spices, especially anything canned. If I am extremely vigilant in restaurants, I can even eat out without an attack but I really have to be careful not to eat something before checking it. Once on holidays in Hawaii at a really good restaurant the waiter brought my fish with a very pretty green decoration on top. I said, is that onion? He goes on no madam, the tops aren't considered onion. Needless to say, it went back! LOL. I also can't have leftovers unless they are completely recooked and not just reheated.
