75 Years Old ~~ Still Going Strong!

My name is Eve. The older you get the harder to lose! I have spent my entire life as a slim, healthy woman. Then at the age of 50 we started our own business and started eating all our meals in restaurants. My slim, trim 124 zoomed up to 150 -- seemingly overnight. My name is Eve. The older you get the harder to lose! I have spent my entire life as a slim, healthy woman. Then at the age of 50 we started our own business and started eating all our meals in restaurants. My slim, trim 124 zoomed up to 150 -- seemingly overnight. I can truthfully say this happened right before my eyes without me seeing it. In fact, as the years went by I became used to the new weight and ignored it. As I reached my 60's my activity level went down, but I never changed my eating habits to balance it. By the time I turned 69 I decided it was time to take action and in Dec. '07 I joined SP. It's been a learning experience, but I wanted to go slow and steady, and did just that.

For me, it's not a DIET, it's a new Healthy Lifestyle, a change in your habits and activity level and is something that will be with me forever! At the present time I have reached 135. I may try for another 10 pounds off, we'll see how it goes.

I am staying positive and looking for the best in life, it's the only way to stay young and healthy. It's wonderful that people of any age can attain it ~~like that elusive fountain of youth, and that's my goal in life!

By the way, if you're looking for friends -- you're in the right place! EVERYONE on here is a friend!

My Goals:
I've raised the bar on my goal, now want to get to 125 lbs. WooHoo!

Short term: Get to 132 by my birthday in Oct. 2014.

My Program:
I monitor very closely what I eat, I am staying on a healthy food plan. I know that fats/sugars are bad for me so those get eaten in very small portions. I don't cut anything out of my diet completely, just limit the portion.

I exercise 3 to 4 times per week, walk every day and drink water always!

Personal Information:
Originally from MN, have lived in CA & NV --now AZ I got married Jan. 2011 and live in Glendale, AZ with my DH, my Scottie, Amber, and we have a Tabby cat named Luci. And now in May 2014 I adopted another white/tabby cat named Holly. Summers are in the mountains about 75 miles from Phoenix. My hobbies are writing, painting with acrylic and I love interior decorating.

Other Information:
OK, I'm a senior citizen and loving it. I never thought 75 could feel this good. I'm looking forward to the "rest of my life."

Hi! Just saw your comment on my activity feed. I was supposd to put in 4miles/he not km! But oh well...same gist. Yes it would indeed be fun if you were able to be there to walk with me. Sunny, beautiful breeze, kinda hot! but not like your Sizzling Oven heat LOL but at 85 degrees with about 75% humidity and climbing....phew! Sweaty proposition. Slightly tropical is the norm here in NW RI summer. But views of the lake are Lovely, Always!

Haven't gotten back to you on the house SAGA yet.....slow typer, so many things to do LOL but suffice it to say EGADS!!!!! some of that painting "Situation" took my breathe away! WOW!

Anyhow, I'm sure our convo on our walk would've been entertaining to say the least!

I'm still trying to get back in my weight loss groove. Now that Rob DH has lost almost 20 lbs (granted by being sick Yuck! So not envious!) He's trying to keep it off. PS...Meds worked so onward! Yesterday we took a nice ride in his "toy" 88 Firebird, windows down, breeze coming in, like being kids again, did the same when we were in our twenties. But we both talked ourselves outta ice cream overlooking another nearby lake. Well I really wanted some and He talked us both out of it! LOL Good side effect of him having been unwell I guess!

I'm still trying, I'm sure you are too, Did you get out before the Blazing heat to walk. Hope so! I'm sure the desert has its beautiful aspects too!

You're welcome. I can only imagine the frustration. However, once everything's done, you'll be very happy. Send more pictures or let me know via sparkmail cause sometimes I don't see all of the blogs.

emoticon Good Morning,
Just thought I'd stop by with a bit of an update since starting my Spark break. I'm doing pretty good, I think stress was my problem because I've lost almost 3 pounds since starting my break. Between Rod's back surgery in December, hand surgery in May and another one scheduled for August I've had to take up quite a bit of the slack. Moving in January didn't help the stress levels much either. I've pretty much been doing everything the same as I was before I started my "break" but just not spending so much time on the computer tracking everything, doing team posts, challenges, etc. After doing all of it for so long I pretty much know what my calorie count will be at the end of the day anyway and I still wear my fitness tracker to keep track of my activity level. I go back to the doctor for my follow-up on Wednesday, I was really hoping to have lost some weight since my last visit so I'm trying not to stress about that now.

emoticon The biggest thing going on here in Southern Oregon is the current heat wave. We received an alert from the National Weather Service several days ago warning us. The temperatures have been 103 - 105 every day and it doesn't look like it's going to cool down much any time soon. They're predicting 107 on Wednesday. The worst thing is that it stays hot into the evening, it was 89 when we went to bed at 10:00 last night. We've only been using our air conditioner a little in the late afternoon, it started making loud noises the first time we turned it on, Rod took it apart and thinks he fixed the problem but now he's worried about what our electric bill will be so we're turning it on once the temperature in the house reaches 80 and turning it off after about 3 hours. At least we don't have the humidity here that so many of my Spark friends farther east have to deal with.

I haven't been doing much in the way of exercise for the last week either - too hot! We complain when it's cold and also when it's hot, is there anyplace where it's continually spring or fall? Right now I'd be happy with cold, you can always put on more clothes and wrap up in a blanket but there's only so much you can take off emoticon

Talk to you more later emoticon emoticon emoticon
