Reach the Stars!

I just turned 60 years old this year. My husband and I will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary in August. We weren't able to have children but we have an amazing chow/lab mix dog who is 14 years old right now.

My highest weight ever was 242 pounds. A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and began eating healthier on and off. At that time I was down to 228 pounds. I've managed to release another 11 pounds in the last couple of years but still need to ...

My highest weight ever was 242 pounds. A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and began eating healthier on and off. At that time I was down to 228 pounds. I've managed to release another 11 pounds in the last couple of years but still need to release about another 80 pounds. I'm hoping SparkPeople will help me in achieving that goal using a diabetic food plan.

“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
-John C. Maxwell

Get ready for a healthy week, Sparkfriend! You know what you want, and you know what you need to do in order to make it happen...so just do it! Push yourself, even if you don't feel like it...because you really are worth the effort!
Hugs,
Pixie

"The common conception is that motivation leads to action, but the reverse is true....action precedes motivation. You have to "prime the pump" and get the juice flowing, which motivates you to work on your goals. Getting momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the first step is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day."
-Robert McKain

"Making changes in your life is never an easy task. The key, however, is not to get caught up in the distance you have to go to get to where you want to be. Nor should you despair over the amount of control you have over your circumstances. Progress is made in the small, intentional steps, and chances are, you have more power than you think. By focusing on little steps you can take every day, the progress you make will motivate you to continue your journey, and eventually, you can go wherever you want to go. The important thing is simply to begin."
-Stephen Cherniske

Just stopping by to say hello and to encourage you to keep moving towards your goals, Sparkfriend! Even baby steps add up if you take enough of them...and of course, you know you're worth the effort, right? I'm rooting for you!
Hugs,
Pixie

"The first step to living the life you want is leaving the life you don't want.
Taking the first step forward is always the hardest.
But then each step forward gets easier and easier.
Each step forward gets you closer and closer until eventually, what had once been invisible starts to be visible.
And what had once felt impossible starts to feel possible."
