It has been about four years since I was on here. Good news is that I attained my goal of working in acute care at Glendale Adventist. Bad news is that I was attacked by an altered patient while working there. I have had surgery on my knee as a result and have permanently lost my ability to run, jog, etc. I am very unsteady on my feet and shuffle around very slowly with chronic pain. I have regained 80% of the weight I lost, which is not helping my knee any! I am having trouble shedding ...

I have had surgery on my knee as a result and have permanently lost my ability to run, jog, etc. I am very unsteady on my feet and shuffle around very slowly with chronic pain. I have regained 80% of the weight I lost, which is not helping my knee any! I am having trouble shedding weight because I really can''t do any cardio. I was an avid runner, did 5k/10k races on the weekends and ran 4-5 miles 3-4 days a week at the gym or outdoors. I was training for my first Ragnar when I was injured. Did Zumba, spin and dancing for variety. Now I am at a loss for something to do for cardiovascular conditioning. Any suggestions are welcome that don''t use the knees.

My Goals:
1. More Energy for a more productive and fulfilling life! 2. Get my family to eat more veggies. 3. Drink more water. 4. Spend more time on me. 5. Expand vegan/raw recipe collection.

My Program:
Cardio three times a week, strength training three times a week. Drink lots of water. Cooking with less meat and more whole grains like flaxseed, quinoa and brown rice. I schedule some "me time" at least once a week now.

Love to go to gym and go walking/hiking outdoors. Looking forward to my next 5K! Like to sing and study multiple cultures and languages. Always up for a challenge! Favorite Quote: "Fortune favors the prepared mind."
Favorite Movies: Patch Adams, Bourne Utimatum, Gross Anatomy, Mamma Mia (Awesome soundtrack for us singers to jam with.)

Love to watch, Vampire Diaries, House, The Closer, Bones, Saving Grace, or Doctor Who. Most importantly however is that I no longer have satellite TV. I got off the darn couch!

Other Information:
Resolutions 2010: Go back to Hawaii this year for a week. Find and finish EMT academy. No red meat again (since 2008). Give up satellite DirecTV. Get back to the healthy person I once was!!!

Nota Bene: Tell me I cant do something, and you WILL eat your words!
Ha Ha, please put yourselves (and your health) FIRST this year!!!

I'm starting the C25K plan this week. I'm planning on doing a 5K mud run in September. I did it 4 years ago but am not in the as good of shape as I was back then. Congrats on getting into week 3!
