My name is Ute, I live in Upstate New York with my husband, my two dogs and a cockatiel. Our twin girls are finishing up their college diplomas, one in NYC, the other lives in the area. I have been a Spark Member since 2006 and always enjoy the support from my fellow Sparkers. My main focus is to use the tools here to help me lose the excess weight that might lead to health problems down the road, and take pressure off my knees. After successfully completing several 5 % Challenges, and making wonderful new friends, I am returning to the Shooting Star team for the 2016 Spring 5% Challenge. This will be my first time as a Motivational Leader (ML).


2016 Summer 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment

Strength Training:
Body Weight Exercises, light dumbells, rubber bands
Minimum 10 minutes, 3 days per week.
Sources: Deck of Cards Workout, 1 Minute Crunch Sessions

Cardio:
Minimum 30 minutes 5 days a week
Deck of Cards Workout, 1 Minute Crunch Sessions, Walking outdoors, Youtube: Step Aerobics Videos, Zumba Workout DVD's, Chair Workout Videos on days my knees are acting up.

What will I eat?
Simple.... I love to eat, and I have been my most successful by just tracking everything I eat daily, sometimes before, sometimes after. I incorporate everything I love into my meals and snacks, since I will be changing my habits for the rest of my life, not just for a few weeks. It has to be attainable and realistic.

My Goals:
Top Goal is to not develop any of the modern world illnesses that are looming on the horizon, as far as they can be prevented by making good choices.

Aging gracefully and still be able to touch my fingers to the floor when I am 75.

I am German, living in Upstate NY. My family consists of hubby (found in bar in 1991), twin girls (found in hospital in 1992), labrador (found at backyard breeder in 2001), oodle (found at friends house in 2002), cockatiel (found in parking lot in 2008).


Other Information:
I love life, Jesus, dogs, lavender and spreading the cheer wherever I go. My favorite bible passage is Psalm 91.

    Thanks for thinking of me. I really liked the job and the people. Real friendly people, work was computerized and while he kept telling me there was months of work to be done, I didn't mind. I had heard there was a customer service job available for full-time permanent work. I asked if I could apply on it. His eyes lit up and he said on Monday he would take me to HR. On Friday, my day off, at 5pm, the staffing company called and told me that my assignment had been terminated. I was mortified.

    They told me that he first started out telling them what a great worker I was and how he really appreciated my work, then he told them due to a company personnel shakeup, the assignment was terminated.

    I do not doubt that is true, they have 4 companies, 2 right next door to each other in this area and 2 somewhere in the Miami area and all the managers have to travel between the four of them (owned by same guy) because they are managers of all 4 places. So they travel a lot. I understand all that, it doesn't make it any better for me.

    I've been feeling like dirt since last Thursday night. I can't seem to shake the feeling. I know it was nothing I did, but it sure does take your self-worth out the door to get blown in the wind and trampled on by everyone else.

    I'm alright. I'm taking the time "off" to search for a job I want, and cleaning the house. I figure God has something in mind for me, just don't know what and it's a little hard to Trust in Him when I'm hanging over the edge of a cliff. Maybe that's what he's trying to teach me, but I'm not sure I'm a good learner on this count.
