Hello, I'm Trista and I'm 32 years old. I've been wanting to lose weight for a while now, I have finally decided to do something about it. I've lost weight with Spark People before, but I admit I fell back into some old habits. So I'm back and ready to make some lasting changes. One of the tools I like about Spark People is that there is always encouragement, and I really find that it helps. Success here I come!

I currently work doing menus for patients at a hospital. Spending time with the Cardiac patients has really made me want to work on losing weight. I don't want to end up being a patient there myself.

Yep- lifting is where it's at. It comes ahead of cardio in workout importance for me. Cardio just makes you a smaller version of you, and very slowly. Lifting is where you can actually reshape your body!

Normally I abstain from ALL sugar for months at a time. I find it is easier for me to maintain my goal weight if I completely avoid all treats like the plague! Being a recovering binge eater, it is very risky for me to take even one bite. I wish I could just avoid sugar for the rest of my life..... it only complicates weight loss and maintenance.

You can usually find red bananas at Whole Foods market or other upscale natural food markets. Persimmons are in season in the fall, and are fairly easy to find at most grocery stores. I live in Texas, so I usually see them from Nov-Dec.
