New from New Hampshire

I am 59 and want to loose 50 lbs to be 60 and sassy by next March, 2012. Adjusted to the unexpected loss of my husband of 37 years, 2 and 1/2 years ago. Now I want to better myself as far as looks and health. Cannot put my family thru another such loss.

Sue, when I read your post my heart ached for you. I too lost my husband unexpectedly in Sept. of 2008. We had 38 years together and I just can't get use to him being gone. I grew up in Maine and we raised our family in MA. I'm living in PA now - we had moved her 16 years ago. I have relatives in New England (my parents still live in ME) so am back there quite often.

There is a lot here for you on spark. The support has helped me get through some rough times.

Hello and Welcome! I have been a member for about 2 weeks now and this is a fun place to be! New Hampshire is such a beautiful state - lots of places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. We spent many vacations there in the White Mountains and now live in North Carolina where the winters are a little nicer but right now, the summer is way hot! Good luck - I have added you as a friend! Happy Memorial Day! emoticon

I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.

I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120. I am 5'1.5" short, lol.

I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.

Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!

You can make it happen! SparkPeople really does work!

I spent most of my 59 years in Obesityville - that is one town I never want to visit ever again!
Slim City is way more fun!!

Linda
