"SaveMeSandra" - a reminder that only I can make the changes in my life to be healthy, happy and at peace with myself.

I'm a 40's wife & mother who was constantly surprised by the reflection in my mirror -- I don't feel like that person in the mirror and the image in my mind isn't like that, so why is that person reflected to me?

If I don't like what I see, I am the only one that can change it. I will change it by eating better, living healthier, losing weight ...

My Program:
Eat a healthy breakfast daily

More fruit, veggies & beans in my diet

Track calories diligently & honestly

Currently walking 2.5-4 miles 3-4 days per week.

Water aerobics 2X per week

Personal Information:
I'm 44 and live in Fairfield Iowa. My youngest son graduated from high school in May, so now that I will be an "empty-nester" it's time to get a handle on my lifestyle and get healthy.

I get easily discouraged when the scales don't seem to keep up with the progress I think I should make, so I am concentrating on smaller, short term goals that aren't just scale related -- keeping in my calorie range, adding miles and speed to my walks, adding new workouts to my routine.

Typically, keeping on track with my diet is not too bad for me. However, I hate exercise. I unfortunately have a "perfectionist tendancy", so I often feel if I can't do it and do it well, better to not do it at all. This is my biggest obstacle to overcome.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I LOVE the sock idea!! Fabulous! Sadly, he probably wouldn't even notice...

I agree that it shouldn't all be up to me. I want so badly to say "Why can't you be more like your dad!" who dotes on his wife, walks in the house, takes off his work boots, instantly starts a load of laundry, checks the dishwasher for loading/unloading needs and starts it so the dishes are done before she gets home from work. THAT is helping. Father-in-law and mother-in-law say it took a lot of training to get there, but even so, once or twice a week would be amazing!

Stupid guys... they just don't get it, do they? lol
