Be a Second Hand Lion and Live - REALLY Live.

"I guess if there's one thing I've learned is that oftentimes things in the world don't make sense and it is a mystery to me as to why certain things happen - but it's what we do with it that counts. So we have to show faith in ourselves, others, and in the future. And we have to trust that the end itself is worth it and never let go of it's promises." 'Kevin' from 'Brothers & Sisters' & ME.
"People who soar are those who refuse to sit back, sigh and wish things would change.
They neither complain of their lot nor passively dream of some distant ship coming in.
Rather, they visualize in their minds that they are not quitters;
they will not allow life's circumstances to push them down and hold them under."
"Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand - and melting like a snowflake."
- Marie Beyon Ray
"My God, I have never thanked Thee for my thorns! I have thanked Thee a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear, teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed to Thee by the path of pain. Show me that my tears have made my rainbow." Author Unknown
"It's a real journey huh....no doubt this takes daily mindful effort, I'm so glad to actually be doing it and not just wishing I was... " MADTOWNBUDDHA
"Too often we dwell on the negative and part of that is because it is easier. On those busy brain times, start looking at some of the positives in your life and journal/blog on those." SIMPLE_TAILOR
"You are doing a wonderful thing, loving yourself and being sensitive to what you need to do to get through this. The only way out of pain is through it, and that is never an easy process. Blessings to you today, you are on the right track. " DIFROMWYOMING
"Sometimes we're not aware of exactly how much we're capable of until we push ourselves to try something that seems too hard for us and succeed." DARKTHOR

My overall goal is quite simple - It is optimizing my health, energy, and vitality.
Weight loss itself is NOT my goal or the object of my being here - it is one of various tools to measure the progress I am making in choosing to live a healthy lifestyle leading to desired, enjoyable, and permament changes in my life. :)
I have Fibromyalgia & Myofascial Pain Syndrome - both of which interfer with staying consistently active and able to exercise in the capacity I desire and enjoy - which in turn leads to emotional eating - BAD CYCLE!!! But one that is slowly but surely being broken and progress is being made. :D
I also have Type II Diabetes, Pulmonary Hypertension, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Chronic Insomnia, and curved bones in my left foot - so my overall collective goal in continuing to make healthy and positive changes in my life and lifestyle is to regain as much of my health as possible!
My program is also very simple - eating well, yet healthy (I am very 'anti-deprivation'), exercise - swimming in the heated pool at the fitness center. I also belong to another gym where I take 'Back to Basics' class (which is cardio and strength training), and have found the most awesome personal trainer, work-out on my own there and also walk on the treadmill and outside. I have also found an incredible massage therapist who is also my Yoga instructor. For working out at home I have a stability ball, exercise bands, free hand weights, wrist/ankle weights, DVDs, and a Schwinn AirDyne bike.
Bottom line is it ALL has to be normal, reasonable, and doable changes that become comfortable and pleasant daily habits. :)
I'm 46, single, Christian and from eastern North Dakota. I absolutely love the peace and quiet and more laid back pace of life here.
I'm staying very busy reclaiming my health and my life.
On March 3rd I started training to walk my first 5K on May 21, 2010 in the Fargo Marathon.
