I am 28 years old and am looking forward to getting in better shape. I have been using SparkPeople since October 07. I slacked off on my workouts and diet this last year and have put on more weight than I should have. I am currently coming back down from my heaviest weight, which I had not been since I was 17. I am maintaining my streak of drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. Water just makes me feel so good. My big thing this year is to work on maintainance. I find that working out and eating well are quite easy to do if you just exercise some self control and discipline. Working out is fun and I know I can cook some absolutely delicious healthy foods. I think I am also doing better at handling stress and anxiety, which is the worst factor in undermining my healthy lifestyle.
Right now I am doing the ChaLean Extreme program. At the time I am writing this I am in my 3rd week of the program so that puts me in the Burn phase. I am already noticing that I am quickly increasing my strength and I am seeing that my muscles are slightly more defined and are getting more solid. I am impressed that I have already started increasing the weight I use for tricep and shoulder exercises. I have been using the same light weights (usually only 3 lbs) for those moves for years and I have finally been able to increase to 5lbs and even some times 8 lbs. I can not wait to see the results at the end of 30, 60 and 90 days!!!
I have been taking my own healthy lunches and snacks to work since I've worked at this job for 2 years. I have gotten my finances back in line so that has reduced a lot of stress for me. I still have to stick to a budget but it feels great to be debt free. I have started saving money again and have done very well. I was even able to buy a new laptop in February. Now I am saving my money to move out of the house I rent from my aunt & uncle which will give me more freedom & reduce a bunch of stress!!! I feel that this will be the year for making a lot of permanent self improvements.
I am also a huge animal lover and support many causes for animal welfare and conservation. The softest spot in my heart has been for the love of my life, my boy Sylvester pictured in my photo gallery. I recently had to say goodbye to him after 11 years together when I learned that he was very very sick with cancer and that there were no other options. It makes me sick to see people with animals who choose to abuse them when there are us owners out there who give their pets nothing but love but can not protect them from something such as cancer. But I know in my heart that Sylvester had a wonderful life and was very loved by everyone in the family. One day I will adopt another cat (or 2) but it is still too soon right now and for the time being I chose to remember the wonderful times I had with my little furry friend.
I have always enjoyed working out since I was about 16, but didn't get really serious about it until my early/mid twenties. I know I don't have much weight to lose, but I really want to get toned and more athletic. I love to cook and love eating healthy food. I am always looking for new recipes and good tips, and I am always happy to share some advice to anyone who asks.

My Goals:
I am in overall good health, so I just want to live the kind of lifestyle that will maintain this until a ripe old age. I do want to get more toned and increase my athletic abilities as well as increase my balance, flexibility and grace.

My Program:
I drink mainly water all day, at least a minimum of 8 8-oz glasses a day. I love eating vegetables, fruit, yogurt, fish and chicken so I try to stay consistent with a healthy diet. I try to eat between 1300-1600 calories a day. I love to workout so I try to exercise at least 30 minutes a day and aim for at least 17 workouts a month. In addition to tracking these goals on here I track them in a spreadsheet at home too.
