Hi! I'm Sarah Anne, and I'm a sophomore in college looking to lead a healthy lifestyle. I've always been "big-boned," but this year I want to shed (and keep off!) pounds, get fit, and instate good eating and exercise habits!

In high school, I danced about 5 days a week but didn't really pay attention to what I ate, so I hovered between 170-175 pounds. During my first semester of college, I hardly exercised and reveled in the buffet-style dining halls - understandably, I gained the freshman 15, reaching my heaviest weight ever of 183 pounds in November 2009. But by cutting back on my calorie intake starting the following January, I managed to lose 20 pounds by May 2010, reaching my lowest weight ever of 160 pounds. I knew something was up when my period stopped for about 3 months - my body didn't like being deprived of nutrients.

I started adding protein to my diet and strength training to my workout, and after gaining 3 pounds my period came back. Over the next year, I fluctuated between 163 and 168 pounds, gaining weight in times of stress or vacation. Last summer, I spent six weeks in the lovely country of Ireland in a study abroad program - despite consistently working out, when I returned I was shocked to discover I'd gained over ten pounds! (I blame the Guinness.) So once again, I am back to the drawing board - I'm going to get fit and healthy once and for all!

My Goals:
1) Reach 160 pounds by June 1, 2012!
2) Avoid binge-eating episodes and "letting loose" during stressful times and social events.
3) Building muscle definition and trimming my trouble spots (namely, my thunder thighs!).


My Program:
Diet - In 2009-10, I dropped pounds by sticking to broth-based soups and steamed vegetables. I would like to make that plan a bit more balanced by adding protein and sneaky ways to quell my cravings for sweets (my weakness...).
Exercise - After 10 years of dance in high school, transitioning to the elliptical and treadmill was tricky at first. But now, I'm practically a gym junkie! My biggest challenge is probably finding the time to go to the gym with a busy schedule of classes, rehearsals, and performances.
