Hi, I'm John, aka Sarge. I put on a few pounds while recovering from shoulder surgery. I have since lost those 6 pounds and would like to lose another 13 to get back to 200. From there I will hopefully be inspired to get back to the 180-185 range of 5 to 7 years ago. My daughter told me about this site and I thought I would give it a try. Now that physical therapy is over I can use the site to help track my progress and inspire consistency as I continue my workouts.

As of today, 13February09, Happy Friday 13th. I finally started logging food again as I restart my efforts here. I have not been good about exercising however. Baby steps I guess. Yeah, that's it. I figured I better get started as people are starting to talk to me about this year's walk. Updates later. Back up to 209 as I restart with my original goals plus 1 year.
As of today, 12October08, the 30-mile walk is behind me and it is time to get back into a normal routine. The past month has not been conducive to working out but my eating went on as if I was. I am now back up to 204 lbs. and I need to reverse this trend immediately.

Personal Information:
I've lived in Anoka, MN, since 1991 with my wife of 28 years. Our first granddaughter is in the picture of me in a Minnesota North Stars jersey, holding her. That was Christmas Eve, 2007. It was also 2 weeks after my shoulder surgery and 3 weeks after she was born.
Other Information:
As for my profile image, I have no idea who it is. It humors me and seems appropriate at this time.
If you would like to know more about me, my blog sites are:
For my "Personal Signature" I had a Monty Python line, "I ain't dead yet". After posting on another's page who was dealing with a spouse's cancer, I saw the signature and wondered how that looked. I changed it. ??? "Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday" is akin to "Tomorrow never comes, it's always Today". Either way, live today. Yesterday is done and tomorrow will have enough trouble of it's own.
ok, ok, i changed my profile picture! we have this cool software on our mac called photo booth and you can warp your pictures. so my new profile picture is another sparkly girl in my 40 something group, along with me before we did the disney princess 5K (my race) and the disney princess 1/2 (her race).
