This is where I started - wasn't happy with what I saw in the mirror or how I felt.

My refuge - the family farm

Sarah's Sanity

Been a lot going on, but that's just an excuse. I'm at the point that I feel fat, and that's not okay. Time to get serious and do something about it!

My Goals:
Following my awesome friend Marta's lead, I'm going to start looking long-term as well as seek immediate gratification.

Phase I:
Lose Weight - 20 lbs
Find Fitness - sustainable exercise that I enjoy is lurking out there somewhere. I will find it!

Phase II:
Lose Weight - 15 lbs
Fitness Challenge - find a team/group activity like a 5K that I'll get to compete in and enjoy

Phase III:
Worry-free Weight - back to the point where the scale is irrelevant in my life, it's more about how I feel and how my clothes fit
Fitness Fun - doing things that are active just because I feel like it and enjoy them!
Maintenance Mode

My Program:
Fall 2012:
Beverages = 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning are okay, 1 can of pop around noon once in a while is okay, and other than that water is my friend!
Food = I don't eat too much at meals, but the snacking can be a problem. I'm good at keeping healthy snacks around for the kids like fresh fruit and yogurt, but not so good at eating them myself. Gonna work on that.
Fitness = Something fun each day, even if it's only 10 minutes! Once a week, I treat myself to a dance class. Pole dance is serious fitness if it's done right, and Wicked Enchantment is a studio that definitely does it right!
Family = When my daughter dallies in the morning because it gives her more mom time, something has to change. I'm going to spend less time on the computer after 5, and more time with the family. A daily walk and inviting one child to join me will let each of them have one-on-one time, and keep me active.

Personal Information:
With a farm background, working out in a gym just seems wrong. One should get enough exercise just by living - but in town and with a desk job, that isn't the case. Adjusting my mindset is a challenge!

Other Information:
My personal motto is that anything is possible! Growing up on a farm in rural Iowa, we had folks from all over the world visit us, and as a result all of our family of 5 has traveled in Europe. People are usually surprised when they realize how internationally connected our farm family is - but I see it as an affirmation that anything is possible if one puts one's mind to it.
