Listen, even if you focus just on tracking, and for right now not calorie goals, for 30 days, I think you will feel calmer about it all. It takes 21 days, I believe, to form a habit, so it can't happen all at once. Once your habit of tracking is in place, then add targeting a calorie range. Add one goal a month and you will be at a healthy weight in no time.
Also, someone else commented on the Beck Diet Solution book. I have also been using this book this time, and I have to say, I feel better about reaching my goal weight than I have for years.

OMG! Eat, Pray, Love is such a female bible to me! The scene in the book where she describes sobbing on the bathroom floor over all the loss in her divorce could have been a direct scene from my own life. Oh my, I need to read that book again! 970 days ago

There is some truth in what you say - I can enjoy whatever and how much I want (Wheat Thins, wine, etc.), but each choice leads to different results. Instead of viewing it as "I am doing without Wheat Thins" I like to focus on "I am working towards the fit healthy body/lifestyle that I WANT". :) 970 days ago
