Hi, I am a mother of now four girls, a wife to a great husband. I recently moved to NYC, where I love my job and the energy, and am getting used to the other parts:)

I am a BC survivor for over 9 years, when I had a mastectomy on my right at the age of 28. June 25, 2008 , I had DIEP reconstruction, which entailed removal of my left breast and reconstruction of both, using the fat from my lower abdomen.

I did this operation so I will reduce my chances of every getting BC again. I now have God willing a less than 1% chance of ever getting diagnosed again.

Phase 2 of the DIEP will be lipo of the breasts to make it look natural and smooth (and symmetrical)

UPDATE: I found out I was pregnant at the time of surgery.
9 months later, we have a new baby girl! A miracle baby, since we were totally not expecting anything like that happening again.
So after not exercising because of the surgery, and then getting too big to really excercise, to having a C-Section - I am just now getting back in to things.

October 2010: My baby is now 18 months and I realized for any change to happen, I had to change. I've started writing down what I eat and I've been working out every day. Look forward to a new changed me!

January 2011: Seeing changes in my clothes and on the scale - not as fast as I'd like, but I am committing now to cleaner eating and hope to see dramatic changes! I've been eating 85% clean and now I am going to up my game. I bought BFFM and I am looking forward to this next step in my journey!

April 2011: I just had stage II of the reconstruction, and I am very happy with the results. Very sore... but looking forward to being able to continue exercising!

October 31 - 176 - done!
November 30 - 170 - done!
March 30 - 164 - done! Slowed down the weight loss, need to get back into it so I can be a size 8 by my birthday August 12!

My Program:
I am logging my food daily.

I am doing Chalean and Turbofire hybrid.
I look forward to starting to bike ride several times a week to mix up the cardio!

    Thanks so much for your reply.

    I am loving Push, not feeling pain :) My heaviest weights (on the lunges, squats) is 20 lbs. each. I am very strong in my lower half. I am conservatively pushing on the upper body - anywhere from 10 - 17.5 is my range.

    I do Turbofire the other days. Today I did 55 EZ - I try to do two HIITs a week. So twice a week I do the turbo 30 or 45 and add either a HIIT 15 or 20, depending on the time I have.

    I can totally do the carb cycling - I did SB Diet for a couple years and I like the idea of cycling it. I never go lower than 1300 on my calories. I keep it between 1300 - 1600. If I feel hungrier, I go with the higher end. If I am not hungry, I stick the bottom part.

    Nice to find another survivor on here! I appreciate your reply earlier about the lifting and lymphodema.

    Hi Sarah, thanks for stopping by my blog. The training in the article is referring to strength training, heavy strength training. The way I use it is, if I am doing strength training, I usually pair it with a short cardio HIIT workout, these would be my higher carb/calorie days. I strength train 3X's/days a week so following the program by Christian I would select 2 of those strength training workouts for higher carbs... 3rd day would be moderate carbs... and my cardio days would be moderate/low carbs...

    Sunday: Strength Upper/HIIT: Higher carbs

    Mon: Cardio only - steady state : lower carbs

    Tues: Strength lower or CLX Burn Circuit 1,2 or 3: Higher carbs

    Wednesday: cardio - steady state: lower carbs

    Thurs: Strength (lower or upper, whatever isn't sore)/short cardio: Moderate carbs

    Friday: Cardio: HIIT: moderate carbs

    Saturday: AM & PM cardio: lower carbs

    2 high
    2 moderate
    3 lower carb {... on my lower carb days I don't go any lower than 75 carbs or so... I also cycle my calories so although I am eating lower carbs, I do try to get in a decent amount of calories so that I can have energy for my cardio workouts. I never go below 1200 calories a day.

    I am blogging today about how to determine your calorie needs and how to calculate them.

    I hope this helps... How are you feeling doing the CE Push cycle?... how much weight are you lifting, is it really strenuous?... Right now I am sticking to the split workouts and 1 day a week compound CLX workouts...

    Hi Sarah, you are doing great... I saw your post on the CE thread... maybe you should back off the heavy weights a little and don't try to progress to the heavier ones too fast... My lymphedema clinician told me that I should gradually work up to lifting heavy weights... I don't have lymphedema, but I am at risk because I have had lymph nodes removed.

    This is not a beginner workout, no matter what Chalene claims... compound workouts are brutal, add heavier weights and a slower pace and it is a very, very intense workout.

    I am getting too sore from doing this workout, so I have decided to do split strength training and maybe add 1 burn circuit per week, along with her Burn Intervals and Ab burner, I love these... I want to build up so that I can go through all 3 circuits in one week the way the workouts are set up... but by me getting so sore, I have to take 2, and sometimes even 3 days to recover before doing another session... that's not going to work...

    I will eventually get stronger, that is my goal... I hope you don't mind I made you a emoticon ... August made 4 years for me as a breast cancer survivor... keep up the good work!!!!
