A Push in the Right Direction...

After losing an initial 35 lbs three years ago, of which I've gained back about 8 lbs over the course of 2 years, I've hopped around from on "diet" to the next, hoping to make each one into a "lifestyle," I've eventually given up on everything from Weight Watchers to the Atkins Diet, favoring clean eating instead.

While I manage to eat clean for the majority of my week, there are about one to two times a week that I cave when faced with sweet treats - I have such a sweet tooth - ...
After losing an initial 35 lbs three years ago, of which I've gained back about 8 lbs over the course of 2 years, I've hopped around from on "diet" to the next, hoping to make each one into a "lifestyle," I've eventually given up on everything from Weight Watchers to the Atkins Diet, favoring clean eating instead.

While I manage to eat clean for the majority of my week, there are about one to two times a week that I cave when faced with sweet treats - I have such a sweet tooth - particularly chocolate. Since I'm trying to lose the last pesky 8-10 lbs, I really need to get this under control, but have found that I am lacking the willpower lately.

I'm hoping that Sparkpeople will serve as newfound motivation inmy adhering to clean eating habits. I'm looking for that little extra push that will keep the things that are most important to me (i.e. leading a healthy and fit lifestyle and looking the part) in perspective.

My Goals:
After leaning out and losing the last few pounds I keep struggling with, my short-term goal, I would like to put on more a bit more muscle mass and maybe even go on to take part in fitness competitions.

My Program:
Eating clean (fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, healthy fats), weight lifting four times a week, instructing fitness classes, and incorporating multiple forms of cardio in my workouts.

Personal Information:
From Alexandria, VA, just outside of Washington D.C.

I'm of Lebanese origin, so my diet predominantly consists of Mediterranean staples like legumes, olive oil, nuts, fruits/veggies, salads, and chicken/fish.

Other Information:
Any books by Tosca Reno truly inspire me to live a healthier lifestyle.

Since taking up reading her work, I've taken up a more active career, consisting of personal training and instructing group exercise, and I'm in the process of acquiring my nutrition certification :)
