Well, my name is Sara and I'm 32 years old. Back in 2011 I lost 50 pounds (199 down to 149) using sparkpeople in a 5 month time frame then found out I was pregnant with my youngest son. I ballooned back up to 245 pounds at my highest.

My current goal is to get back down to 148 by Christmas 2015. I've lost 40 pounds to date (June 2015) and am currently training for my first Savage Race in October. (Goal to be 157 on race day) I've started a couch to 10k program to train for it and am more than halfway through it.

I ran my first ever 5k this year (May 2015) the Rugged Maniac and though I was heavier than I wanted to be, I did complete the race (1:45) and completed all but one obstacle, but did attempt all of them! My mile time has improved and I have found that I actually do enjoy running...never thought I'd say that! I run 3 days per week and use an elliptical trainer the days I don't run. I completed T25 alpha and beta rounds and need to integrate that back into my routine.

I'm a busy mom to 2 boys and work full time as a Certified Veterinary Technician in the Neurology department at a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital. I have several pets ranging from fish to ferrets to dogs and a horse.

Ultimate goal is to hit 148 pounds by December 31, 2015.

My Program:
I was doing the old weight watchers program and tracking everything from exercise to foods I eat, but found it much easier to follow the Spark People recommendations and I've stuck with that and had great success!

Personal Information:
I'm originally from the Seattle area and lived there for 21 years. Then moved to the Tampa area, then to Anchorage for a couple of years and now I'm back in the Bradenton area of Florida.

    I really do understand how discouraging it is when you work very hard and don't see the progress you had hoped for. I'm having that problem now with my running. I started Week 6 really well but then things just fell apart. On Satuday I didn't feel like running so I decided to just walk instead. Go figure - while I was walking I hurt my knee! I tried to run yesterday but I pooped out after ten minutes. So I know what it feels like to be discouraged. But you and I both set out to achieve goals and we need to keep going despite the setbacks. The only person who can stop you is you and the only person who can stop me is me. And neither of us is going to let that happen!!

    My running is coming along pretty well. I just finished week 5 of the rookie running program yesterday so I will be moving on to week 6, which is walk 1 minute, run 3 minutes, times 8. I am pretty nervous about getting to walk only 1 minute but I'm up for it!!!
