The thing that has worked for me is following a low carb, high fat diet. It does not mean no carb or high protein. The grams of protein are in normal amounts (60-65 grams per day), healthy fats are higher and the carbs are lower. If/when I stray I always go back to it. I am now at my lowest weight in 35 years - new picture coming soon.
As much exercise as my limited abilities allow. Low carb diet is endorsed by my cardiologist who just calls it the diabetic diet. Most of my heart problems have ceased - tachacardia, irregular heart rythms, poor circulation due to clogged arteries. My type 2 diabetes is much better :) My ticker shows my current losing streak. I was 309 at my heaviest - see pics. :(
I was born in West Virginia, but I've been a California gal all my life. I live in a rural community and sometimes it seems like I am very isolated, but SparkPeople helps me to feel connected.
Aloha! I'm excited to begin my 100 Days journey. So happy to have buddies that will be working through it at the same time. I've added you as a SparkFriend so it will be easier to keep up with your postings. When you get a chance, check out the discussion thread in the 100 Days team for people starting on Nov 1 so you can see who else is starting then.
