Getting Healthier Every Day

Update: I am starting new today 1-3-09!!! I vow to NEVER GIVE UP!!!
Hi! Today is the day I stop fooling myself & get control of my life. I grew up a fat child & when I graduated from High School I was 200#. When I went to college I found that I could actually control my weight and I lost 70 lbs. Well, over the years the weight has gradually crept back on. I have been procrastinating for many years now & today I am gong to stop. Today I am in control!!!

My Goals:
1st Short term Goal: Weigh below 190, that would put me in the overweight category, instead of Obese.

I would like to lose 78 #. That's the obvious. But, I would like to gain back the respect I use to have for myself. I also want to have more energy to keep up w/ my 4 y/o granddaughter

My Program:
Healthy food choices.
More physical activity.

My name is Susan. I live in rural Kansas. I am a nurse. We have 3 daughters & 2 granddaughters.

I enjoy scrapbooking, gardening & my family (not necessarily in that order!)

It's good to see and meet you here on Spark teams.... (WALKING FOR A HEALTHIER YOU) . Good luck on your goal(s) and I'm here if you need help on this site. Take care and talk to you soon. Stay focused and have a positive attitude will help. I'm here to keep you encouraged and to be supportive.

To STAY MOTIVATED I DO THIS ALL THE TIME:::
1) come in and read the posts
2) read and join any teams that you think you like
3) get it know the people
4) read some articles
5) most of all :: have fun and enjoy yourself
You are doing great, making progress every time you come in.

If there is anything that I can do to help, give me a holler. If I do not know the answer, I will find it. Our leaders are really great and help when you need it too. So don't hesitate to ask. That is why we are here... Always, ERNA

Hi Saw you had just joined SP...you have come to a great place for information, support, motivation and ideas. Plus you might even have some fun!
If you ever have any questions, either sparkmail someone or just give a shout out on one of the message boards and someone will surely come running!
There are many teams...almost overwhelming but find a few that meet your needs or interests and get active on them. Motivating others will motivate YOU. I am 61 and have been a member for awhile but it took me til around Christmas to finally kick it into gear. As with any journey there are ups and downs ....but hopefully more ups than downs!

I started last June and by using Spark and some self discovery in the process, I'm down 25 pounds, and am holding steady at a healthy weight.
