just trying to be healthy :)

the summer has come and gone, and though i had great intentions, they didn't exactly pan out like planned. unfortunately, due to emotional drainage and family issues, i slid back in to a routine of not eating healthfully, though i did exercise/lift weights on the regular. i ended up gaining 5 pounds - but, thankfully, by october of 2010 i have lost all of it as well as another 7 pounds.

now i'm just going to do what's best for me. i'm on a restricted money diet, which means ...

now i'm just going to do what's best for me. i'm on a restricted money diet, which means heavy on black beans and apples, so hopefully that'll help some. i'm also taking 20 hours of classes and working three jobs... my only issue now is going to be sleep deprivation.

My Goals:
- be able to run a 5k by may;
- keep my 3.5 gpa and/or make it higher;
- make better choices when eating out;
- stop drinking as much (it's a big problem);
- keep my life in order.

My Program:
- couch to 5k program, every day;
- 30 min. yoga routine at night;
- healthier diet with supplements;
- strength training.

i'm originally from memphis, tennessee, but i'm currently going to college in pulaski, tennessee (halfway between huntsville and nashville). i'm a waitress, a tutor, and a lifeguard. i'm also an avid reader and a lover of music.

Ooh, state park sounds awesome. My roommate and i were just talking last night about finding such places for hiking and camping this summer. I can't waaait for summer.

Yikes! That is actually a total lie. It was true. And then i got back from vacation. in a country known for cuisine that is opposite my lifestyle (aka rich dairy, fried fish, and cooking fat. They even put cream in their yogurt.) So it is more like 10 lbs to go (again), but i'm hoping most of it is just water retention, and will be back down by next weekend. We'll see!

On the other hand, looks like you're making major progress!!! How is life? What's going on?

Hey there.
Saw on the College Student boards that you're doing Couch to 5k.
How is that coming along? I just started it so I can get faster.
Has it noticeably helped your endurance?
