During my time as an active member of SP I've made vast changes in my lifestyle and in my life. I don't think of weightloss as a 'goal' per se. To me, it represents a measurement of health status, and is a by-product of the true goal: good health from a healthy lifestyle. To have "thin" as the ultimate goal has no meaning for me. To have "more slender" HAPPEN? Kewl!! That could even mean the smaller clothing would let more clothing items fit into each laundry load!

Healthy living has been and will remain my focus here online and in the choices I make offline too. Some things stand out as important to me in my journey:

THE SP DIET STAGES:
My SP exerience aka time has proven to me the value of things we often overlook. Therefore, I cannot stress enough to new members the value of truly reading those SP Diet Stages! Our most difficult to conquer issues are firmly embedded in old habits so old and embedded that we don't realize they exist until we focus on what makes us say "Oh I know THAT". When some suggestion or advice seems 'old hat', consider the possibility that THAT is precisely what needs most attention. Yup, I'm a strong advocate of working - working! - through the SP Diet Stages!

"Is it really THAT important to track?"
YES!!
Tracking and measuring ... and then reviewing reports and summaries! ... empowered me to understand the areas of nutrition that needed overhaul.

A true lifestyle journey never really ends; the more we improve, the further we can travel!

What is imortant as we begin and continue changes in lifestyle is to:
ENJOY the journey! Go for it!

My Goals:
GOAL:
...2 b the best I can b!

1. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.

2. MY GOAL FOR ACTIVITY:
Keep pushing my limits further.

3. LOSE WEIGHT,
last but not least of my goals. The result of all others, yes?! YES!

My Program:
(1) ACTIVITY:
a. Walk.

b. Daily stretches and exercises.

c. Aquadic exercise in a physical therapy pool.

d. exercise videos for limited mobility! Found some on YouTube that are great!

(2) NUTRITION:
...* Proportioned balance and lots of color served bikini-plate style!
...* Moderation,
...* Enough. Remind myself to eat (I tend to forget).

I use the Bikini Plate 'model' of meal-planning. Light on everything but those nutrient-dense veggies.

Personal Information:
Love music, learning. Am a self-described 'friendly recluse'. People always laugh, but... somehow the description fits just fine!

A mother of 2 grown sons, grandmother of 5, mom of disabled vet, and long-time divorcee: I find every obstacle a challenge that empowers me... and grounds me in optimism.

Other Information:
I may be the Queen of the Turtles in terms of visible change, but the changes I'm continuing to make INside are HUGE!

Life is a journey.
And vice versa.

Thanks for the tea Sam. I am going for a walk in about an hour.
It is a beautiful sunny day and I will take advantage of the midday sun.
Happy 4th July! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I thank you Sam. You encourage me more than you know.
I have been sick this past week and haven't been able to walk as the antibiotics make me feel sick and drowsy, but I aim to start as soon as I feel well enough. Have been eating mainly light food and soups and have lost a kilo so I will be continuing with the good eating patterns.
I hope you are enjoying lovely summer weather. I am finally loving the cooler weather.

Mid winter and we still have beautiful sunny days and cooler evenings. It got to 23 today and it will be 13 tonight. I don't own a heater, so let's hope it stays this way.I have booked to go whale watching with my son and cousins on the 27th so I am hoping for a nice sunny day.

Keep on motivating me and all of us here Sam.
We can do this! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for reading my "Obsession" blog. I'm not giving up, still planning on continuing with my exercise and watching my diet, just spending less time in front of the computer doing Spark posts and tracking everything. After over 2 years of diligent tracking I have a pretty good idea what I can eat, what I can't and what my calorie count will end up being at the end of the day.
Every day I walk 2 miles, do Yoga and Strength Training regularly and am very active doing either gardening, housework or activities related to our recent move. I'm NOT sedentary or even close to it. I think the combination of early menopause and thyroid removal in 2001 is the reason for my lack of success and not anything I'm doing or not doing. Since Rodís back surgery in December and recent hand surgery I really feel like Iím doing too much. Once I have a chance to re-group and things here settle down some Iíll be back.
