Isn't it fun checking out people's pages? Wish I had some pictures, but I've been avoiding cameras for years...
As a "skinny kid" for 30-ish years, it was pretty tough to change habits when the onset of age and a sedentary job started changing things. Then, for the next (almost) 30 years, things went - well - uphill, until I was well over 100 pounds overweight. Now, contemplating the *next* 30 years, I've come to the conclusion that I'd better do something so I'll be able to take care of the kids in my old age - I have nine (fur) kids, and it's just too danged hard to lean over and clean out the blasted cat boxes!
I'm getting closer to 60, and thinking about what things will be like as I get along in years. I do not intend to spend those years hauling myself around from one doctor's appointment to the next, huffing and puffing all the way. I want to be one of those slim & trim, grey-haired old birds who is self-sufficient and independent, who works in her garden, volunteers actively in community groups, who does day trips with the local hiking club and walks rings around the cocky young foks.
Wouldn't it be a kick to play frisbee again? Guess I'll have to find some other wiry old birds to flock with....
Long-term: I need to lose 120 pounds to get my BMI into "normal" range.

Cardio 3 days/wk: 3-4 miles Leslie Sansone walk- at-home (45-65 min)
Strength 3 days/wk:
"100 pushups in 6 wks" program (doing wimpy counter-high pushups)
35-40 min with Andrea Metcalf or Erin O'Brien vids, using 3 lb weights
7th day - trying to get in the habit of doing a yoga session, but that's spotty so far...

I really appreciate the comment on my blog (150 Pounds Lost - There is no stopping me).
You are absolutely right, it can be very difficult when we have so far to go. But, it seems like our choice is to either dwell on it and be unhappy about where we are and how long it'll take us to be 'good/okay/whatever it is that isn't what we are now' or we can be positive, especially when we have something to be positive about. Having tried both, I think I'm going to stick with the positive. I just need to keep doing positive things so these positive feelings are based on some fact. ::grin:: All the best to you.
One good choice at a time will add up.
