My journey begins here. It is an unexpected journey, one that I

was not ready for and one that just popped up at my door step

one day. I was not aware of what was ahead of me, I just knew

what was right in front of me and once i opened my eyes and

took a look and pondered on what i saw I decided I needed a

change...A change for the better! This is when I made a

conscience decision to embark upon this journey and embrace

everything that came with it, be it difficultly or ease, happiness or

sorrow, frustration or contentment. My body has been sending so

many signals (for years) that my mind has been ignoring.


Ignoring...Why? Ignoring because I never looked over weight. i am

5'8 so my weight spreads out and is portioned all over. Ofcourse

in more places than others but not in a way where I look fat at all.

But I definately didn't look thin. I have always been an active

person and I love to exercise but being consistant with this has

never been enough. Why? Because of the missing factor...healthy

eating and portioning! The two components that was missing all

of these years. I have done many diet gimmicks but none of them

focused on eating the right foods, portioning and exercise all

together. Therefore many years have gone by with hard work

going unrewarded ie. no weight lose.


Having read the information on this site and then pondering on

the ettiques of eating and drinking in my religion, there are many

similarities such as portioning your food and drink intake, eating

the foods and drinks that will benefit the body and abstaining

from the foods and drinks that will harm the body, not being

gluttonous, incorporating exercise into your daily schedule,

getting the appropriate amount of sleep etc.


Now, with my new found knowledge and understanding, I feel

powerful and strong. I feel I am able to accomplish anything and

overcome any obsticle. I feel now that I am able to strive for the

best life possible. Strive to replace bad habits with good habits.

Strive to incorporate exercise into my daily schedule. Strive to be

mindful of what goes in my body. AND STRIVE FOR A HEALTHY

MIND, BODY AND SOUL!


So now I am ready! I have been in this deep dark tunnel waiting to

come to the end. It is only now that I see the light at the end of the

tunnel and it doesn't seem so far away. It seems reachable and

this is what makes me optimistic. This is what makes me push

harder and endure longer and keep up my motivation. Soon I will

reach the end of the tunnel (hopefully) never to return. Hopefully I

will have the ability to help others to reach the end also. We are

all here together trying to acheive the same goal. We can all

move on together and assist those who fall behind. So now who's

with me? Lets begin our journey now!

My Goals:
SHORT TERM GOALS:
1- lose 15 more lbs
2- exercise more
3- make better food and drink choices
4- gain knowledge and become more informative about healthier eating habits
5- help my family to eat healthier
6- get rid all bad habits gradually and for good

LONG TERM GOALS:
1- apply everythig that I learn about heathlier eating and use it for the rest of my life
2- continue to keep a food and exercise journal
3- once I reach my weight goal then I want to maintain it and not gain it back


My Program:
NUTRITION: I eat a balance meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat a serving size from all of the food groups making sure that I have a variety of fruits and veges. I have eliminated all extra fats and sugar from my diet but if i need to sweeten a dish i use natural sweeteners and fat like honey and natural sugar or olive oil and butter. I just use it in moderation. I also drink a Spinach/ Strawberry/ Banana smoothie every morning to make sure I get in my daily allowance of fruits and veges.

FITNESS: I go to the gym 3 days a week/ 2 hours a day.I do an hour and 1/2 of cardio. My cardio includes aerobics, total body cross trainer, the treadmill or the stationary bike. Then I do 1/2 hour of strenth training using the weight machines. I do 2 sets of each exercise 12 reps.



Personal Information:
I am born Muslim from Brooklyn, East New York and raised in Massachusetts. I have also lived in Virginia, NC and now I live in Egypt. I have 5 wonderful children who keep me on the go. They exert a lot of energy running and playing and i need to eat better inorder to build my energy level and keep up with them.


Other Information:
I love travelling and seeing different places and learning about different ethnicities and cultures. I try to make sure my children experience the many wonders of the world.

I also love meeting people and talking. I am a very sociable person and like having the right people in my company.
