Welcome to My World
I was always fairly thin without much effort and then I hit 45. It's been a struggle ever since. I have three grown children, a bull-terrier mix puppy and three cats. I've lost ten pounds since joining SparkPeople and would like to lose another ten.
I like to walk my dog, Bacon. She needs the exercise and so do I. I also walk as much as possible at work and take the stairs instead of the elevator. When no one else is in the stairwell, I take the steps two-at-a-time.

2009 goals:
Maintain current weight range 115-120.
Continue to walk at least 1 hour every day.
Plant a vegetable garden.
Stop spending more than I make. Deferred comp and retirement contributions will give me something to live on in retirement, but credit card debt needs to be eliminated.
Enjoy and nurture my relationship with Christopher.
2008 goals:
Lose ten pounds by my 50th birthday.
Look better than my ex for our daugher's wedding on August 23, 2008.
Be in great shape for my 50th birthday on October 19, 2008.
My Program:
Eat a low fat, high fiber diet. Keep total calorie intake around 1200 a day. Skip the salty stuff and alcohol until I reach my goal.
Reward myself with books, instead of food when I lose weight.
Personal Information:
I live in Sacramento - was born here and have lived here all of my life.
I work for the state and am looking forward to retiring in about 10 years. I've worked for the state for 25 years. I also sell Avon and books on Half.com.
I have a 26-year old daughter and sons, 20 and 18.
I am twice divorced and comforably single now.
I love shopping at thrift stores. The prices are great and you never know what treasures you might find.
Other Information:
I love to read any and everything. I love to garden, write and take pictures (although I'm just now transitioning from film to digital.)
I welcome book recommendations! I also enjoy trying healthy recipes that would also appeal to my boys.
