At the beginning of 2010, I felt as though I had begun the self-discovery phase of my journey; a renewal. Even though I'm not at my "ideal" weight, I'm at a healthy weight and happy with how far I have come. I am discovering so many new things about myself, things that have been hidden under fear and fat for such a long time.

I feel with the removal of the weight, the blindfold was removed from my life. I have finally started to see things and people as they are, not as I pictured them or thought they should be. Its amazing all the truth we discover about our lives once we stop fooling ourselves with excuses and fear.

So much has happened for me in just the first few months of 2010. I am a RUNNER! I love it and dont know what I would do if I couldnt do it. It has saved my life and my sanity. When I have had a hard day, I put on some rock and run my butt off. I completed my first half marathon and numerous 5k's. My new goal for the year...to run the California International Marathon on December 5th. I'm scared cause its a huge committment, but I know I can do it!

This is the new me and I'm so excited to find out what's next in my life!

MY JOURNEY -

This is the beginning of the end of being overweight. I have been overweight all my life. I can remember attending weight watcher meetings back when I was in grade school. I'm finally tired of it and now have become serious about losing weight. So, this is my journey to a new me!

I started my journey back in the summer of 2007, my weight was 330. I lost about 15 pds by fall and that's when I began going to the gym. If it wasn't for that jumpstart, I dont think I would be where I am now. I started 2008 at 300pds and switched to working out at home. I did mostly Leslie Sansone Walk videos. In August I was stuck at 265 and I knew I needed a boost, but nothing was motivating me. Thats when I discovered the elliptical. I bought one and within a month I was down 10pds!

I joined SP in October at 255 and boy did it change my life. For the first time I was accountable for everything. I was finally tracking the right information and learning to be in control of my food and exercise. By December I was 230 and very happy about my progress.

The weight started slowing down a little in the first few months of 09. Again, it was time to change things up. I added many more videos to my workout regime. May 09 I was 215 and by June I was 200!!! I couldn't even remember the last time I was that weight. I was wearing sizes I never remembered wearing. And then it happened I entered the 100's!! WHAT???!!! I never thought I would get there. Its the smallest I have been since I was a little kid. Its now August and I'm 186. My goal is 150 and I hope to hit that mark by the end of the year or the first part of 2010.

Those are the numbers, but so much more has changed. I have never been this healthy before. I still may not be able to run a mile, but I'm getting there. I can do things I never thought possible. I'm jogging, something I have never attempted or ever liked but loving now. My blood pressure is finally normal and in the healthy range. I dont fear going to the doctor anymore.

Even though I still see a big girl in the mirror, a lot of fears have subsided. Such as fitting in a booth at a restaurant, going to amusement parks and fitting on the rides, fitting thru turnstyles, fitting in seats at concerts or just plain chairs at any location. I haven't been on a plane since 300, but I bet that'll fit better now too.

I'm enjoying my ride on this journey...

Update: Since my last entry here, I have lost almost 10 pounds, now can easily jog 2 miles, working on 3, and I reached a huge milestone...I have lost over 150 pounds since starting on my weightloss journey.

December 09 Update: I'm now 154 and have officially lost 100 pounds with Spark and over 175 pounds total. I'm really happy with my weightloss, but I'm even more pleased with my health and outlook. I'm now running around 10+ miles a week and starting January I will be training for a half marathon!!! I'm so happy that my body is wanting and allowing of this type of exercise and training. I feel wonderful and my outlook on life is changing right before my eyes. Thank you to all my spark buddies who have given me the strength, motivation, and inspiration to continue on!! THANK YOU!
