Never quit trying!!!

Keep trying, don't give up is all that keeps going through my head!!
At the age of 37 I had a heart attack. Thankfully it was just a wake up call type. I was in good shape, ran, ate right did everything right but yet suffered a heart attack. Everyone around me was stunned as well as many doctors/nurses. I had 100% blockage and had angioplasty and one stent was placed in my artery. I was on medication for 18 months and was told I could go off the all the med's. I was told for one, I was ...

I was told for one, I was too young to be on these med's the rest of my life and 2, I showed NO signs of ever having a heart attack. I had reversed the damage that was done which I guess is a very hard thing to do..who knew... I stunned even the specialist at the U of M hospital that I was sent to. I was a medical mystery with my own cardiologist LOL
That was a little over 3 yrs ago. I have continued to stay healthy (for the most part) have had a minor scare recently but things are okay now. I have recently been placed on a beta blocker due to this new problem, but was told it wasn't going to be a permanent thing.
I have continued my running, I have continued to make good choices when it comes to food....maybe not 100% of the time but I do make good choices.
I have 3 kids, 3 wonderful, busy, active kids. My son is will 16 this summer, my daughter is 13 and my baby(daughter) is almost 12. Of course, my husband of almost 17 yrs--wow! They are my reason for wanting to do all things as well as I can. What I do today set things in motion of what they'll do tomorrow. I need to make positive choices for their sake, for my own sake.

This is my year that I FINALLY run my first 1/2 marathon!!! April 30th is the day I will finally step up and run the 1/2 marathon that I have dreamed (or nightmared) over. I'm now in training mode for that!!! I'm super excited!

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results. -Kenneth Blanchard

Be sure you track all of your points...You don't have to do it all...we are not looking for perfection but participation...All you have to do is TRY and be accountable for it. This challenge is to help you and by participating you will always be the benefactor of your efforts!

I had the willpower to drive past Starbucks today. I came home and attempted to make my own - it just wasn't the same.

We got home this past weekend when the warm weather moved in and took credit for bringing the sunshine back with us. I saw the orthopedic surgeon today and had an MRI on my knee. Waiting impatiently to find out what's going on. I want to run.

Hey, you've GOT to run a 1/2 this year. It's one of your big goals for the year and you can do it, even if it's this fall. Run and stay healthy emoticon

Hey there! How are you? I'm okay. Dealing with injuries and trying to figure them out. I am not a patient person and having a difficult time dealing with not running. Heading home next week from our winter place in GA. NOT looking forward to the weather there, but ready to see my owm doctor. :)

Congratulations on overcoming your heart attack - wow! Way to go and theideaof having one scares me - yikes!!! :-(((
From a runner to another runner, you can run that 1/2 marathon. You've still got 3 weeks of training and tapering you can do. So remember to taper off your training the last week and SLEEP as much as you can the days beforethe race! Run fast and run your race!! :-))
