"I did the best I could with what I knew. ...Now that I know better, I do better." ..............Dr. Maya Angelou 2010 - to all my dear sparkfriends - I hope I've encouraged you half as much as you've encouraged me! Life is changing and I'll not be sparking much - keep up the good fight, the journey continues... OLD STUFF************************************* ** Hi -- I've taken 65 pounds off over 6 years and am settling in to the idea of maintaining this weight loss. It's highlighting that the habits I found success with to lose weight are the same habit that will set me up for success in maintaining it. For me, those habits are journaling, working out, water, enough sleep and time to think about meaningful, short term goals - usually done while watching tv w/DH in the evenings. Lightbulb moment! It's not really about maintaining the weight, it's about maintaining the HABITS that maintain my weight! The passions in my life include piano, horses (dressage), family, running, and wellness/fitness. The values in my life are defined by Christ. The majority of my days are spent behind a desk coding software. Here's to life! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MY MANTRA: I choose to be fit... My Mission Statement: I embrace a lifetime of focusing on habits that will sustain a healthy weight. These habits require energy, commitment and focus to sustain. DONE--BDA journal challenge (blog about working out at 7am) to support this - FINISHED 12/28 AND MORNING WORKOUTS ARE NOW PART OF THE ROUTINE :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADVANTAGES OF EFFECTIVELY MANAGING MY WEIGHT: Jan2009 ~ I like being fit and strong and injury-free. ~ I am fit - ahtletic, lean, calmly & joyfully disciplined. ~ I train, compete & perform confidently, achieving goals in all areas of life. ~ Im content with my choices in eating, exercise and my life because they allow me to be happy in my own skin. ~ Im empowered to make my own choices and not be swept along just trying to hang on. ~ I see muscle definition in the mirror and am motivated by my own body to keep working at this. ~ Im at a healthy BMI (Unbelievable achieved mid-Sept! And as dr.Beck would say Believe it!) ~ I have a reliable eating plan and am free of the panic that I'll get too hungry or gain weight. ~ I have energy to spare. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My weight loss ticker reminds me of where I've been (heaviest in 2002 - 6 years of losing a bunch, gaining a little, losing a bunch, etc). I'm happy at a healthy BMI (154) and my weight's settled down to between 145-150. So I guess that's my goal weight. I chose the tortoise cuz consistently steady, even if slow, gets me there for sure!
