I've gained and lost the same 10 - 15 lbs since I turned 50. It takes forever to lose and then comes back almost immediately!! It's very frustrating!!

My Goals:
I'd like to lose about 15 - 20 lbs and increase my fitness level. I have osteo arthritis in my knees and hips, but if I stay busy I don't hurt as much. I'd also like to gain muscle so I can eat more :-)
My Program:
I'm trying to increase my protein and lower carbs. That's very difficult for me since I love carbs!! I also do some kind of exercise every day, even if it is only to take my old toy poodle for a slow walk around the block.
Personal Information:
I'm a retired engineer, turned 58 in March 2009. Married, one married son, teenage grand daughter and grand son. Live in SE Michigan in the summer and So Cal in the winter. I have wonderful friends and a great life. I try to live in the present with no regrets or worries about the future (easier said than done in this economy!!). I come from a big family and parents are living and in reasonably good health, however my dad has dementia. It's sad to see what's happening to him.
Other Information:
I love to read and usually have a couple of books going at the same time. At least one classic or books on health & fitness, what I think of as books I should read and a good mystery or a good love story.
