Fit after 40

After being chubby as a child and young adult, I lost 80lbs and maintained that weight for over 5 years. Marriage (and now divorce), 2 kids, the daily stresses of being a working mom helped put all of that weight back on. With the marriage ending I lost 50 pounds and found my lost love of exercise. Now at 40+, I am continuing my quest to be healthy and set a positive example for my children. Hoping to lose more weight and continue with the running. It can only get better from here!!!!

My Goals:
Looking forward to 2014 to finally get off these last 30lb. and work on increasing my running speed. I will do at least one long distance race 10mi or HM.

I want to set an example of a healthy lifestyle for my children so that they don't have the struggles that I did throughout my life growing up overweight.

My Program:
I pay very close attention to portion size to make sure the foods that I enter on here are accurate.

Water, Water, Water

Running - I am hooked!!!!.

Thanks for the great comments on my blog today. You are young and super fit. No reason not to go for a marathon. You will do well, and you'll feel like you've accomplished something once you complete!

I loved the story of the lady in your race and your encouragement of her! At a 5k race I did I encouraged a woman who came in dead last, because I've been in that position before. And you will get back to running what you want to run. Great job on being able to do 8 miles because I have never reached that point yet. So know that some of us out here think you're awesome for the amount you can do, even if it's not what you want or used t be able to do. You'll get back there.

Have a great day.

I signed up for my first HM on 9/29 - I am on week seven of the Hal Higdon Novice Plan - It has taken a lot of disciplin for me - but hopeful I will keep it up!! No injuries...No whammies! Enjoy your next run! Good Luck with your challenge!!

Loved reading your story and about your 10 mile race. Where is your 1/2 in September?
