I'll be 48 in May of 2015. I'm a wife and mother of two adult children. (One, 19, is still at home.) We have a great dog and cat, and I adore animals. I live in MN, but am trying to get my butt to someplace warmer - perhaps NC.

I'm a Zombies, Run walker/runner, I use a FitBit tracker every day, and I want to start and MAINTAIN a yoga practice. I would like to lose weight, but my primary goal is to feel better.

My Goals:
Update, November 2014: After falling away from SP, I'm coming back, but cautiously. If I'm not careful, it takes too much time. I've lost approx. 10 pounds, and I want to lose 20 more, but I don't want to stress out over it. I'm challenged by a difficult phase in my perimenopause, and I need to be kind to myself.

It's most important to me to feel generally healthy and energetic. I write and work on the computer a lot, and need to move more.

An ultimate goal is that I'd like to be able to run again - the way I did when I was a kid: with a sense of joy of freedom.


My Program:
My Goals:
1. Move daily. (Yoga, Zombies, Run!, walking, etc.)
2. Get my average daily steps up into the 8,000 steps per day range ... with no days under 5,000.
3. Blog my gratitudes at SP daily.
4. Being productive in my chosen field improves my mood and attitude immensely. For that reason, I want to write on my blog and/or my novels EVERY DAY.
5. Looking good also improves my ability to function well. For that reason, I want to stay on top of a good hygiene and beauty routine. That means being clean, being well-dressed for the situation, wearing a little (or a lot) of makeup, and being accessorized with cool, distinctive "stuff".

Current numbers:
goal weight - 170 - 180
exercise in minutes - 210 weekly (30 minutes a day)

Personal Information:
My name is Renae Rude. I'll be 48 this coming May, 2015. I'm married, with two adult children. I'm a writer. I currently live in Minnesota, but am trying escape the winters here. I'd like to end up somewhere near North Carolina.

Other Information:
I am an IOWL fan and one aspect of that is to create and use thoughtfully designed intention statements.

I intend to:

--move often and take opportunities to be outside more.

--build paranormal sanctuaries for those who feel lost & out of place in the "normal" world.

--nurture my inner strength & energy so I may more easily share my soul's gifts.

Thanks for the comment on my blog - I'll try the cross-leg idea. That reminds me of another Pilates exercise called Crab. Who knows, maybe it will help! :)

Ill check that podcast out, thanks. I used the word 'discipline' because its a strong and powerful word and it gets to the point. Once everything becomes a norm then it will be about self nurturing. I just need that hard reboot in my life. I'll also go check out Fit to Write. Thanks again.

I do the same as you do with my FitBit - I have it linked to Spark so all my steps are shown here, but I don't let it add calories to my daily allowance. I love my FitBit and love Spark People, I just wish Spark converted the calories more accurately. My calorie goal within the FitBit app is much lower than Spark's inflated number would be if I let it "communicate" with my fitness tracker! I'm OK with it all because I don't really want to feel like I have to "earn" food with exercise. All in all, the basic range is probably best for me after all, rather than trying to find something that will add calories to workout days.

I've had a blue maltese and your cat certainly looks like one. It's nice your kitty has been around so long. It looks like he has the reign of the house. LOL. My cat did too.
