I am in my sixth year of living a healthy life style!! I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2016. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals. I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it! As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people! Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son last November to Anorexia Nervosa. I am in the first year of my grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me. My Goals:
To complete the Philly Broad Street 10 miler and 2 half marathons during the 2016 season.

To run a Half Marathon under 2 hours.

To run a 5k in under 26.24.

To run the Main Street Miler 2016 in under 8.38 mph.


My Program:
I am a Pescetarian.

I run 3 days per week.

I practice yoga.

I walk 2 miles per day with my dog, Roxy - weather permitting!!



Personal Information:
I have been married for 28 years. I have two sons (one is in Heaven) and 2 beautiful little Boston Terriers named "Roxy" and "Mayzie. Having dogs who love to walk is such a great gift...they get me out everyday. All I have to do is look at those big brown eyes and I am out the door!!

    A friend gave me Emergen-C, I think. It was a raspberry tea type thing. God uses things or He can do things Himself without anything being available. I am glad that you are feeling better.

    I have found that sometimes the stuff we have in our house will do just as well as making an appointment to see a doctor. People think I am crazy when I suggest to them to try something like vinegar in water for a sore throat.

    I was amazed the other day to see a post on Facebook about Vicks VapoRub and there were two things that I do that were listed. For sore throat, put some Vicks on a long sock or scarf, pin it around your neck and sleep with the Vicks over the Adam's apple area.

    For a cough, rub Vicks on the soles of your feet, put on socks and sleep all night while wearing the socks.

    I'll pray that you will feel better.

    I love power naps! that's how I got through university! I had an alarm clock set up: 50 minutes studying, 10 minutes nap. and cycled that over hours during the night before a test hahaha.. and pulled a 4.0 GPA ;)

    I didn't want to begin working out at home again because that's how I initially got obsessed with doing more and more. I wanted it in a controlled environment with fiancé with me during each trip to gym and that's it. Balance is so key
