I am in my sixth year of living a healthy life style!! I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2016. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals. I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it! As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people! Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son last November to Anorexia Nervosa. I am in the first year of my grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me. My favorite quotes... All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything!Gary W. Goldstein Goals are dreams with deadlines. ---Diana Scharf Hunt Take care of your body. Its the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you.Guru Singh No Matter How You Feel, Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up, and Never Give Up - Unknown

I have had cramps this afternoon and evening. I think we have the pool squared away. I will do one last check on it tonight before going to bed.

Today, we are having problems with the pool. I won't be back on Spark People until Wednesday.

My Dad was a game warden on Deep Creek Lake and I lived there from the age of 9-18. Mom sold the house and property after Dad died because she couldn't do the snow removal in the winter. It is now a rental property and looks nothing like it did when we lived there. My sister sent a link to a virtual tour of the house several years ago.

I heard on the local weather the other evening, that we had only four days out of the whole month with no rain. When the sun is shining, we are tackling our outside chores. The flowerbeds are weeded and we want to vacuum the decks before putting our patio furniture on the pool deck.

Our son put Behr Deckover on the side deck and the pool deck, railings and steps. It didn't hold up and is peeling. I will try to vacuum up what I can. I think it has only been on for two years.

We have never grown any vegetables here. Our rottweiler ran along our fence with a dog on the other side of the fence. All of our surrounding neighbors have dogs and she would try to entice the dog on the other side to run along the fence. She ran over and through anything that was in her way, except for the wood pile.

Now I can plant and not have to worry about broken plants. We do have rabbits and groundhogs here and I am sure they will help themselves to vegetables. I won't know how it will go until I plant something. My brother-in-law gave onion sets and potatoes to me to plant and I need to do that before we go on any trips.

I didn't get any more seeds put onto my homemade seed tapes today. It is tedious work, but I won't have the seeds falling into the soil together and hope to have some pansies. It may be too late for a bloom until next year. I never pay over $2 for seeds and have bought packs for much less than that. I have wild purple violets that grow here and sometimes, on a whim, I will transplant them into my flowerbeds.

When we lived by the lake, there were white, purple and blue ones like the picture at the top of my page, that grew wild in the woods, with Jack in the pulpits and May flowers. This year I have some irises that grew. I planted two hosta plants last year and they both came back. I had two Gerbera daisies, but I haven't seen any leaves where they were.

I am just so happy will all the blessings I experience daily.
