I am in my sixth year of living a healthy life style!! I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2016. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals. I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it! As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people! Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son last November to Anorexia Nervosa. I am in the first year of my grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me. My favorite quotes... All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything!Gary W. Goldstein Goals are dreams with deadlines. ---Diana Scharf Hunt Take care of your body. Its the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you.Guru Singh No Matter How You Feel, Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up, and Never Give Up - Unknown

I don't know what a Messenger account is. I don't have a Smart phone if it has to do with that. I am dumb when it comes to computers and electronics.

I think back often to my enlistment. I owed Dad $7 for a bag of horse feed and he kept telling me to get a job.

We used to play poker together and I thought I would scare him by calling a recruiter and asking what I would need to do to go into the military. I had done fairly well on a test I took for the military to get out of English class in high school. The recruiter was delighted that I had called and came to our house to talk to me. Dad was not thrilled, and I knew he would call my bluff to see if I would really leave home.

The only jobs were keypunch at IBM and working at a shirt factory doing piece work. I figured the military couldn't be much worse. I proceeded with doing what was necessary to enlist. Dad kept telling me that it wasn't official until I took the oath to uphold The Constitution. I didn't look back. Little did I know, he would die in January of 1971. I would have been a burden to Mom if I still lived at home, had no job, and rebelled when she asked me to do chores. God knew what would happen and though I did what I wanted, it was His plan all along.

A friend gave me Emergen-C, I think. It was a raspberry tea type thing. God uses things or He can do things Himself without anything being available. I am glad that you are feeling better.
