A New Me!

Hi my name is Kristin. I am 29 years old. I married my best friend on Decemeber 30, 2009. We had our awesome little boy in 2005.

I have been on Sparkpeople many times over the years and have lost weight. I always end up finding something that distracts me and I "fall of the wagon" and gain it all back. It many only take an excuse like "I'm craving some sweet. One doughnut wont hurt me" and I'm done. I think my failure is because I never do it for the right reason. This time is ...

This time is different.

Recently my son was diagnosed with some food and environmental allergies. Wheat, tomatoes, and peanuts being the top 3. I have tried to cook foods that are either gluten free or something that can be substituted for gluten free food. I know that he is still feeling singled out. Why would I let my child feel that way?? Why can't the rest of my family join on the gluten free wagon? That is one of my goals right now. Start to introduce more gluten free foods into our diets and make it a way of life for the whole family.

I set my goal small at only 10lbs but I think those little goals is going to be what keeps me going. I don't have a set weight as my final goal. I figure I will know when the time comes.....

I am looking forward to discovering myself again and pushing myself to do stuff that I have been afraid to do...

Hi Kristin,
I hear ya on the letting one sweet sabotage your goal, though I think I'm finally out of the state of mind where if I let myself have a treat then I don't beat myself up over it... I just look at the next morning as a new beginning and get back on track. I love the idea of getting your whole family on a gluten free lifestyle for your son. I'm also trying to get my family all on board with eating healthier through incorporating more vegetables into our meals, my goal is to get to the point that I've got a vegetable with every meal.
Hope you don't mind that I added you as a spark friend...look forward to following you on this journey and being able to help cheer you on! I know that you can do this! emoticon

Anything is Possible
By Unknown

If there was ever a time to dare, to make a difference, to embark on something worth doing, IT IS NOW.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily...
but for something that tugs at your heart, something that's your inspiration, something that's your dream.
You owe it to yourself to make your days here count.
HAVE FUN.
DIG DEEP.
STRETCH.
DREAM BIG.

Know, though, that things worth doing seldom come easy.
There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around, pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you that you are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

PERSIST.
Because with an idea, determination, and the right tools, you can do great things.
Let your instincts, your intellect, and your heart, guide you.

TRUST.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard.
Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons.
Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
The start of something new brings the hope of something great, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
