Need Some Change

Hi, I'm a single mom of a beautiful daughter. I work full-time, and I am raising my daughter on my own. It's so hard to find time and/or energy to take care of myself. I hate how I look now, and it's making me very sad. If I can't get my weight under control, I don't know what I'll do.

My Goals:
I'd like to get back to my happy weight - 127. I wish now that I hadn't put myself down so much when I was at this weight. When I reach it again, I promise to be kinder to myself.

My Program:
I'm following the SparkPeople eating program for vegetarians. I'm at 1500 calories/day. I love that the recipes:
1. have vegetarian options
and
2. are simple and good

Personal Information:
I live in Northern California, where I'm a teacher.

Other Information:
Weight loss is the beginning of my journey to take back my personal life. I have given up on myself, and it scares me that I do not see myself ever finding a partner to share my life. I might end up very lonely if I don't start opening up to people.

i saw that you joined the 28 day challenge and that you are trying not to give up. that is exactly the right attitude. DON'T give up. keep trying. you're doing a lot of exercise so you think the weight will come right off. it sounds to me like the weight gain is muscle. i could be wrong. i went through the same thing for months: weight gain or no weight loss. but my clothes were not as tight . if your clothes fit better, you can pretty much be assured that you are losing fat and gaining muscle. muscle takes up less space and weighs more. muscle is a very good thing . it burns more calories. so keep trying. eat enough food to keep up with your exercise and don't give up. eventually you will balance out and the weight will come off. don't give up. keep up the great job exercising. i hope this helps.

I only say this because I care-- ya need to eat more! Try to get in more healthy grains, protein (peanut butter on an apple is a yummy snack) Quinoa is awesome!

Have a great Christmas!

Hi, good to meet ya! I did not make much changes right away. The 5 lbs came off as soon as I changed my way of thinking. I was kinda depressed about life issues and stressed over school, blah blah. I also found myself comparing myself to others. I finally woke up one day and said "enough" and became positive! Positive about school, life, etc, and I MEANT it, wasn't fake and lost 2 lbs that week. Couple weeks later I was down another lb then finally hit 5 lbs. About a month total. So for that 5 I continued to eat basically healthy and became positive. Thats my only secret :) I'm holding now for going on 2 weeks with no add'l loss but I've added Insanity workout so hope by next week I'll start seeing it go down again. I'm also changing my nutrition to match the intense workout. Sending ya a friend request. Good luck!

You said this -----"Weight loss is the beginning of my journey to take back my personal life. I have given up on myself, and it scares me that I . . . . . ."

DON'T EVER GIVE UP. Don't be afraid to face each day with a smile and the knowledge that every step you take will be a BIG PLUS on your journey to a healthy lifestyle.

Quit trying so hard and it will all fall into place. You are loved. emoticon emoticon emoticon
