Writing a new chapter here...fully settling into a new age 30 decade while still trying to clean up a sort of mess I made in my 20s.
I am everything from a caffeine addicted burned out working mother to a survivor who was truly given a brand new chance.
Right now I''m working on consistently tracking food again. This means Not eating what I want, when I want...becoming more carb aware, and trying to rein it in on the sugary foods. Hoping that some small steps can lead to big changes.
1) Get back in the habit of tracking calories & watching sugar intake, especially since I don't have the option right now to go for a run or walk to burn off a lot of excess.
2) Earn a monthly award for 1000 Spark points.
1) Keep my stress down.
2) Keep my house back in order...reduce backlogged clutter, cook more often, and keep it open and welcoming for friends and family members to visit.
3) Get more sleep--in bed by 11:30 on weeknights.
Super Long term goals:
1) Get back into a healthy weight range.
2) Continue to work on lowering my cholesterol and watching my blood pressure.
Physical Therapy Exercises for my knee and ankle joints take priority at the moment, but I do also try to sneak some "bonus strength" to work my arms and core!
My name here is rockrunner404, which is modeled after an email address created during a time in my life when I was most active and fit. I will always be a nerdy rock collector at heart and I will always love distance running to help keep me in shape. I have run many 5K and 10K races over the last several years, and so far I have completed two full (Pittsburgh) marathons in 2003 and 2010. I am not sure when I will be able to run again due to my current injury situation, but I won't give up hope.

I dont know what my problem is but I seem to have fallen off the healthy train and landed smack dab a big pile of unhealthyness. I found a coupon for a free jar of spaghetti sauce that expires this Friday. So I was thinking since I have to run into town to go to the bank and post office I'd stop and get that.... so of course I have to pick up a few extra things cuz I cannot just go get my free item. I'm making a list and it starts it eggs, almond milk (OMG that is another story I'll get into later), tuna... then I start thinking oh yummy I'll make enchilladas, calzone, pizza. Where is my mind? I'll tell you where, its THINKING ABOUT CHEESE ALL THE TIME. I must be addicted!
About the almond milk, if you have not tried it you must! I tried soy milk before and thought "YUCK". Well I decided to try almond milk cuz I like almond. I got the vanilla flavored and it is sooo yummy!
I know, I am so ready to open the pool and for summer to get here. Enough rain and cloudy skies! I'm nervous to open it actually, afraid its going to be tons of work or we did something wrong/forgot to do something last year when we closed it. Its funny cuz I've noticed how people are mentioned "oh ya, you have a pool right?" like the really dont know. Already itching for that invitation to come swim. I decided this year is the year of kool-aide and ice tea.... not just for guests but for Nick and I was well. I am ok with it but he LOVES his pop. He drinks 3 cans/day in his lunch and goes through about 6 2-liters bottles/week... plus I have 1 or 2 bottles a week aso. I figured it out and at $1.50/bottle plus a case every other week thats $820/year in pop. Thats just crazy!!!
I sent you a flyer thing I found online for different exercises with the stability ball. I decided to buy it cuz it was cheap and I need something different. I've been trying to get on the bowflex but I think I'm just so darn burnt out with the thing. At least when I went to the gym I had a bunch of machines I could try out but one machine every single day gets old rather quick. I actually looked at getting a kettleball but it was like $25 plus I'd have to get a DVD to go with it which would be another $10+ so I decided to try the stability ball instead cuz if I dont use it I've only wasted like $8. I also bought a pedometer when I was at walmart. I like it, it has a step counter, distance, and calories burned. Not sure how well it works but I'm giving it a try. I've used them before so I thought maybe it'll give me some motivation to move around more.
I dont think I bought enough to eat today. I brought a mini bagel and deviled egg for breakfast (with coffee OF COURSE), strawberries and yogurt for lunch, and a pudding snack for the afternoon.... but its not time for my afternoon snack and I started getting shaky. I found a bag of fat free popcorn in my drawer and cooked that up. Its not the tasty-est popcorn but its filling and fat free. I'm not going to eat the whole thing, just a few handfuls (the rest will go in the lunch room to be eatten by the office pigs LOL).

Hey girl, how have you been? Sorry, I've been super busy here lately and just realized I never replied to you comment from last week. Last week was crazy, Karen and I went to Harrisburg to pick up a vehicle on Thursday, the good-bye lunch for Karen and Shannon was on Friday, and I was off yesterday. Then over the weekend I had Nicks bday party. It wasn't anything big, just some friends over and some burgers and hot dogs type of thing. I didn't do terribly that day, actually I had 2 glasses of wine and a small plate of food, but Sunday was pretty bad! I grazed half of the day away. I did manage to get out of the house and do some shopping which was fun cuz the weather was so nice, but I know I did some serious damage cuz I ate way too much that day. Yesterday was ok. I had to get the car inspected, drop some stuff off over my parents, grab some stuff at the store, etc. so I was busy a good part of the day. I weighed myself this morning and I'm going to totally forget that experience, otherwise I'd be tempted to stuff an entire wedding cake in my mouth. I was up like 6 pounds from Friday. Its not even that time of the month. I know I overate but I cannot imagine how I could have eatten that much. I mean 6 lbs is 21,000 calories. I'm hoping at least half of it is water weight. So I packed a good lunch for today and am going to plan everything out for this week so I have no excuses.
Oh, I have to confess that friday when I went out to eat for the good-bye lunch I totally blew the "no cheese" thing. I actually ordered a spinach and cheese calzone. It was yummy but full of like 3 different kinds of cheeses.
So you had your "giant confession" from last weekend and I have mine from this weekend. Oh well, we are both moving on. So how was your weekend. Hope you did better than I did.
One more thing, I seen the picture of the stability ball on your page in your sparkgoodies section and it made me realize I bought one over the weekend. It was like $8 at walmart. I have not used it yet but my plan is to do crunches and stuff with it before going to bed. I've always wanted one so I decided I'd just buy one. I actually plan to keep it in my closet that way when I go in to change for bed it will remind me to do a few exercises. A few is better than none right?
