Writing a new chapter here...fully settling into a new age 30 decade while still trying to clean up a sort of mess I made in my 20s. I am everything from a caffeine addicted burned out working mother to a survivor who was truly given a brand new chance. Right now I''m working on consistently tracking food again. This means Not eating what I want, when I want...becoming more carb aware, and trying to rein it in on the sugary foods. Hoping that some small steps can lead to big changes.

My Goals:
Short term:

1) Get back in the habit of tracking calories & watching sugar intake, especially since I don't have the option right now to go for a run or walk to burn off a lot of excess.
*SUCCESS!!! 2/5/15*


2) Earn a monthly award for 1000 Spark points.


Long term:
1) Keep my stress down.

2) Keep my house back in order...reduce backlogged clutter, cook more often, and keep it open and welcoming for friends and family members to visit.

3) Get more sleep--in bed by 11:30 on weeknights.


Super Long term goals:

1) Get back into a healthy weight range.

2) Continue to work on lowering my cholesterol and watching my blood pressure.



My Program:
Physical Therapy Exercises for my knee and ankle joints take priority at the moment, but I do also try to sneak some "bonus strength" to work my arms and core!

My name here is rockrunner404, which is modeled after an email address created during a time in my life when I was most active and fit. I will always be a nerdy rock collector at heart and I will always love distance running to help keep me in shape. I have run many 5K and 10K races over the last several years, and so far I have completed two full (Pittsburgh) marathons in 2003 and 2010. I am not sure when I will be able to run again due to my current injury situation, but I won't give up hope.

    My grandpap is doing well. His surgery went well and now we are waiting to hear back if the tumor was cancer or not... although the doctor said he was 95% sure it was. Not sure what the next step is but he's recovering and doing good.

    Well I guess the chickens will have to wait becasue Nick said he has too much else to do... but I noticed that the little store across from Rite Aid in Richeyville has a sign up that it sell fresh brown eggs so maybe I'll get them from there instead of the grocery store.... but I WILL GET MY CHICKENS EVENTUALLY!

    Sounds like you have your plate full dealing with two little ones at home all day... and potty training Ko. I thought you were still going to put Ko in daycare during the day. Did you change your mind about that? Well I hope potty training goes smoothly. Rich has been trying to potty train Hunter and has had some funny stories.

    My points have been very disappointing this month... I only had one 3 point day but the majority of the rest have been 0 and 1. :-( This weekend was bad... although I did track every day. I was thinking about something the other day and I realize I have gained about 15 lbs from my lowest and the only cause I can think of is that I stopped going to the gym. I still eat the same (mostly crappy) but the gym must have been enough to keep me even. So, that being said, I think I'm joining again. My friend Adrienne and I are going to join Cal U's gym. Its $40/mo but its just at the bottom of the hill and having a workout buddy will be awesome... we can keep each other accountable. They just built a brand new gym from what I hear which is why its so much more expensive but its month to month so I can give it a try and see how it goes.

    Well I better get back to working... but man I'd rather be outside today... it is so nice out there. I did a claim earlier today and didn't want to come back in the office.

    So whats it like getting to stay home with new baby? I bet its not as relaxing and fun as I imagine it being but it's gotta be cool to spend all that time at home with the kiddo's huh? So how was your weekend? Mine was ok, pretty uneventful. We just hung around the house and relaxed.

    I'm hoping... no I'm determined to make March better. I was able to track every single day in Feb which is a step in the right direction for me becuase too often I didn't track at all on the weekends and I'd "UN-DO" everything good I did all week long. Feb turned out to be a bust because I see (by all this tracking) how bad I really was eatting, especially on the weekends. I'm going to change that this month and I'm hoping to lose some serious poundages. Its not like I didn't know it, but it sucks to see the numbers in black and white ya know?

    I actually thought about your "doing case work while in labor" comment when I heard that you had the baby that day.... I wasn't going to bring it up tho :-) Too funny, you jinked yourself!

    Oh we did do something fun this weekend that I almost forgot about. Friday after work we had to go to Tractor Supply to get a bucket for our quad (to move horsey-poo with LOL) and while there I got to see the cute little baby chickens and ducks they have... OMG I want them. I've been wanting to get chickens for years but we are never ready for them when the time of the year comes around... we need a coop built but Nick wants chickens too so we may get cracking on the coop and go get some baby chicks in the next few weeks. We may wait another year but we are tossing around the idea of just going for it now and getting them :-)

    I have to confess... all these good thoughts for March and I totally messed up for lunch today. I forgot I was in the field and brought soup... well that doens't work well in a car so I had to stop and of course I didn't pick somewhere healthy... I picked Taco Bell. My stupid lunch was nearly 1000 calories of grease, grime, and processed foods but it was tasty. I have a healthy steak dinner waiting on me tonight so I should still be able to keep my calories in line (even if the fat and sodium are off the charts for the day). I'll be better next time. Actually I managed to schedule myself out the only day this week that its going to be bitter cold and nasty... the rest of the week I'm stuck in the office and it'll be sunny and warm.

    Well its about quitting time. I have to go visit my grandpap in the hospital. He has to have surgery on Wednesday which is kind of scary because he's in his late 80's. Have a good day! Talk to you soon!

    Hey sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, but although its technically slow here, Ed has been giving me and everyone else all these silly odd jobs and wild goose chases to go on to "keep us busy".

    Kudos to you for going to Red Lobster and being prepared. Everything there must be made in lard because even things you'd think would be healthy are high in calories.

    My points are really bad this month so despite you having a baby you are already won even without the last few days of your points. My total points for the month were 28... you were already at 26 with 3 days left so I'm sure you won but I'm ok with that. The reason I'm not discouraged is I managed to track my food every single day in Feb which I don't think has ever happened. I always missed the weekend days here and there. I only was in my calorie range 7 days this month... wow thats embarassing to admit. I also did not do well with the water at all. Actually the majority of my points were from eatting my fruits and veggies. So I'm going to work on my calorie range and water this month and hopefully I'll see some results becasue I didn't lose anything in Feb... but I didn't gain surprisingly either. I started out strong and was even down 4 lbs at one point but that went to crap cuz I gained it back :-( I'm fine with tracking the same things in March.

    Well TGIF. Hope you have a good weekend. We dont have much planned. Actually I dont think we have anything planned... nice relaxing 2 days coming up.... hopefully I can keep my nose out of the pantry and frig :-)
