Writing a new chapter here...fully settling into a new age 30 decade while still trying to clean up a sort of mess I made in my 20s.
I am everything from a caffeine addicted burned out working mother to a survivor who was truly given a brand new chance.
Right now I''m working on consistently tracking food again. This means Not eating what I want, when I want...becoming more carb aware, and trying to rein it in on the sugary foods. Hoping that some small steps can lead to big changes.
1) Get back in the habit of tracking calories & watching sugar intake, especially since I don't have the option right now to go for a run or walk to burn off a lot of excess.
2) Earn a monthly award for 1000 Spark points.
1) Keep my stress down.
2) Keep my house back in order...reduce backlogged clutter, cook more often, and keep it open and welcoming for friends and family members to visit.
3) Get more sleep--in bed by 11:30 on weeknights.
Super Long term goals:
1) Get back into a healthy weight range.
2) Continue to work on lowering my cholesterol and watching my blood pressure.
Physical Therapy Exercises for my knee and ankle joints take priority at the moment, but I do also try to sneak some "bonus strength" to work my arms and core!
My name here is rockrunner404, which is modeled after an email address created during a time in my life when I was most active and fit. I will always be a nerdy rock collector at heart and I will always love distance running to help keep me in shape. I have run many 5K and 10K races over the last several years, and so far I have completed two full (Pittsburgh) marathons in 2003 and 2010. I am not sure when I will be able to run again due to my current injury situation, but I won't give up hope.

Morning! Sorry I've been so MIA lately. Its been pretty crazy here at work which is when I do most of my sparking... and at home in the evenings isn't much better preparing for Taryns shower next weekend and all the wedding stuff thats coming up. In the last week I've spent every single day/evening doing something wedding related from dress fittings and hair rehearsals with her, shoe shopping, my dress fitting, nicks tux fitting, shopping for shower and bachelorette party supplies, doing work around the house that needs done before the shower, etc. The list goes on and on. Last night I went to Lowes to buy lumber to build steps to the back door, state store for the "good stuff", then I got home and started cleaning vases and arranging the silk flowers. I still have a mountain of stuff to do but I'm glad I'm starting now cuz I can do a little each day after work so it wont be such a mad rush right before the thing. I'm just praying for nice weather otherwise all these women will have to be INSIDE my house for the shower.
Also at work, we have had a "suspected" subsidence event that made the news that has kept us all busy here... and it turned out it was below the crop anyway but not only dealing with the slide as it turned out to be but the zillion applications in the area that came in right after that.
If thats not enough going on Nicks cousin tried to commit suicide a couple nights ago so we have been visiting him in Presby hospital... they thought he went too long without oxygen but he seems to be pulling through which is a miracle! He apparently cannot handle the divorce he's going through and that was his solution. It looks like he's going to be ok, medically that is... but they are going to keep him for at least 72 hours for psychiatric evaluation and to get him therapy.
Anyway, I have not fallen off the wagon I'm just really busy lately. I actually think I may have some spark time today. I decided I'd at least get on spark and leave you a message before I dive into whatever work I have today... I've been meaning to but got sidetracked and never got around to it... not to mention I've been out of the office most days lately. I have not even tracked my food this week and I'm so far behind I'm not even going to try to go back and enter everything, besides you were like 20+ points ahead of me before all this so April is another WIN for you! Congratz!!! I'll start again today so I'll have a final number for April but I basically have to start over in May (assuming you want to continue the challenge which I would like to if you do). I'm going to add a little extra challenge to myself because now that I've seen myself in this dress that I have to wear on 6/18, I REALLY want to lose 20 lbs. I know thats stretching it but I have over a month and a half. The dress fits but the biggest reason I need to lose some weight is my chest. Its a strapless sweetheart neckline with an empire waist. I know people think empire waist looks good on everyone but in my opinion it doens't look good on apple shapes because it just accentuates the round belly. I do think it hides the big hips on pear shaped people and anything looks good on skinny people, but for myself thats the WORST combination for me... strapless, sweetheart neckline, and empire waist. Anyway, one of the first places I lose weight is my chest and believe me, with the empire waist line holding "them" up and the low cut of the sweetheart neckline... I'M ALL CHEST!!!!
This next month is going to be really hard because I have a cookout this weekend, the shower next, bachelor and bachelorette party, and a camping trip all crammed in there but I'm going to do my best. I've actually been eatting pretty well. Oh, I have to tell you about my new found love.... turkey burgers. Even Nick likes them. The first time I made them he ate 3 of them. When I told them they were turkey burgers and he was like, "oh well they were good" He even asked for them again this week! I spiced them up a bit and added about a teaspoon of red pepper flakes, A1, and Worchestire sauce to it. It seriously tasted like sausage. You have to try it. But about my 20lb goal, my plan is to seriously step up my exercise routine. I'm going to try to go without cheese as much as possible again too, although I'm afriad its an addiction. I did well this morning I had a mini bagel and egg. Normally I'd have put cheese on it but I seriously didn't even miss it.

Well today isn't my flex so I'm here, unfortunately! My weekend was pretty uneventful. We went over Taryn and Ricardo's house Friday, then Sat we actually bought and planted some trees (yes, in between the rain storms). Yesterday I just cleaned and cooked a bit and basically relaxed.
Actually no, I didn't use the stability ball but I did get some unconventional exercise in shoveling Sat and I used my bowflex yesterday. Actually, I would have used the stability ball but I totally forgot about it until I read your message. I'm going to get it out and try it tonight.
Sorry to hear you fell but at least you didn't do any more damage to it. Just try to take it easy, especially right now. I think staying away from exercise (at least cardio) until you are back to 100% is a good idea. If you push too hard too soon you'll hurt yourself more and possibly do perm. damage. Its not worth it.
I bought the pre-made kool aid that you just use 1 scoop for whatever amount of what it is. It says "1/3 less sugar than soda pop" on it so thats pretty impressive I think! Plus you can buy the packs and make it yourself and just use a sugar substitute if you want.
I dont think I did all that great over the weekend. I didnt even track my food. I'm slipping back into that habbit and I cannot help myself. I'm waiting for my monthly visitor so I feel like I'm bloated 2xs my normal size right now. I also made lasgana for dinner last night. I made this HUGE pan of it and ate a big piece but I used my homemade sauce, 1/2 turkey and have ground beef, and lite cheeses. It turned out pretty good. I made a bunch cuz I'm going to take some over to my parents. My moms been working crazy shifts so I figured that would be nice for dinner or lunch for them.
Well I guess I better get to work since I have a lot of running around to do today (not even doing my real job cuz I'm taking vehicles to be serviced... man I hate doing this automotive crap). Well hope you have a great day!
