I live on a farm in rural NH - I've been a vegetarian since I was 18 - I grew up on a farm and made friends with the future meals, which made me a bit conflicted about eating meat... so I stopped as soon as I was on my own! I love to garden, read, cook, build and fly model rockets, and tend my pets.
I've always stuggled with my weight - I don't want to be a fashion model, I just want ot be healthy! My current goal is to loose 20 pounds and keep them off for good by changing my lifestyle.
June 8, 2009 - Update
I finally reached 130 pounds on May 14th, and I've been hovering right there ever since. Now my new goal is to stick there! Since I've been following the Spark "diet," there's no problem - I'm just continuing the healthy nutrition and exercise habits I've learned on this site - they helped me reach my goal, and they seem to be helping me stay here, too!
August 30, 2010 - Another Update
Fell off the wagon! Between home renovation (don't ever do it if you dont have to! :) ), moving, and a minor (but painful) back injury, I'm back up to 150!! I'm climbing aboard again, but plan a more conservative, and maybe saner weight goal of 135... HOPEFULLY by my birthday in October, when I'll be hitting the big five-O! Hey, compared to a home renovation, a human renovation should be fun! :)
Eat healthy foods ,exercise daily, and get down to a healthy weight (and stay there!)
Learning to cook low calorie, healthy foods and avoiding unhealthy foods (or at least keeping them to a tiny portion of my total diet)
I've been happily married to my hubby since 1982, and have three wonderful grown up children and three grandchildren.

Thank you for your lovely long comment on my page. I must look into the DietCoke issue. I can't say I'm addicted to it but it's something useful to have when I need a pick-me-up and I'm not at home to make a cup of tea.
I had headaches too when I quit coffee. Shows how addictive caffeine is. I now drink tea instead--much less caffeine, and of a less "jolting" kind. I only have coffee now if I'm working a lot, or examining in the afternoons when I can't have my usual little nap. I don't miss it any more.
I appreciate your open-mindedness about non-vegetarians. I admire you for sticking to your principles even though not shared by your relatives and the majority in your state. Greeks too are great meat eaters, at least since the post-WWII affluence allowed it to be eaten daily--I think now with the financial crisis, many may be returning to more traditional fare, with meat a once-weekly "treat". In olden days meat was only eaten on feast days such as Easter. In nine days Lent starts, then many Greeks will abstain not only from meat/chicken/fish (though seafood is allowed) but also from dairy products.
I know what it's like, working outside the home, it doesn't happen that often for me but when it does I can't keep up with my friends here either. But I'll be here for you whenever you want.

Yep, I love my feathered buddies. I figure I'm giving them intermittent reinforcement, like a slot machine--very powerful conditioning due to the fact that I strew corn for them only sometimes. I'm lucky they didn't jump me, LOL!

I think lower caffeine is definitely why you have headaches! It will pass.
