The reason I WILL get this weight off!
Obviously this is a struggle for me. The PCOS was a mis-diagnosis. Upon visiting a specialist this past June, I was told that what I had was not PCOS, but rather, stage 3 endometriosis. This was corrected with surgery and I've dropped 26 pounds since June! That is my biggest post parenthood weight loss every. I'll take it. And hopefully keep moving with it. It gets me just over half way to my first weight loss goal.
*** New Update 4/14/12***
After my hormone imbalance progressed to full blown PCOS, I am now dealing with the challenges that brings.
*** Update 7/4/10 ***
After blaming having a baby and/or breastfeeding for what was really an undiagnosed hormone imbalance (now it's diagnosed!!!) that happened after my pregnancy, things are now starting to look up. Thank you to my chiropractor who gave me the natural progesterone cream and the herbalist who recommended to me to drink red clover infusions. Finally starting to see the weight come off like it should!
*** Update 11/22/08 ***
Well, it's back to the drawing board, but the weight gained was for a good cause! My son, Jude, is now 2 months old and it is time to get back to business. I gained a little (LOT) more than I had planned. As a matter of fact, I gained 10 lbs a month for the last three months. I will lose that 60 pounds and hit 140 inthe next year and a half!
After a great start, losing 40 pounds between Sept. 05, '05 - June -6, '06, I have been stuck in this plateau ever since. I am determined to figure out how to get the last 30 pounds off.
*** UPDATE 11/25/07 ***
When I was 26 years old, 5'7", and 200lbs, I went to the doctor and for some reason I was actually surprised to be told that I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol I knew in my heart that I better do something about this, now or much more serious consequences were going to follow.
I had always flirted with working out in college, so when I joined a gym I was fairly comfortable with the equipment and began a step class for teachers that I absolutely loved. During that first year I took off 30 of my unnecessary pounds, and 15 throughout the next year.
Then I got stuck on the dreaded plateau . .
Finally, this year I discovered that I enjoy running. My husband and I have worked up to 5K (he can go more than that, but he is very supportive of me, so he does what I do when he runs with me). For all the years leading up to this I had myself convinced that I hated to run.
Weight loss has this one negative aspect. I have had to get rid of all my fat clothes and haven't been able to replace them as quickly as I would like to. I mean, come on. I'm working with a teacher's salary here. I finally broke down and went to Goodwill yesterday where I was able to get 4 articles of clothing for $22! And the pants? Size 10. Oh, yeah!
Then, as if that pay off wasn't good enough, someone handed me a bag of name brand clothes last night that they couldn't wear (It looked like they never wore them in the first place.) and I got 2 more tops, a jacket, and a pair of pants, SIZE 8, that fit with no problems whatsoever! I was a high school freshman the last time that I fit into a size 8:-) *sigh*size 8*
To lose a pound or two a week for the next year (by July 2011)
To complete the 100 push ups in 6 weeks challenge.
To complete the 200 sit ups in 6 weeks challenge.
To run 5 miles before September 2010.
100 push up program 3Xwk
200 sit up program 3Xwk
Walk at a brisk pace with the stroller/ 20 lb baby 5-7Xwk
I grew in a stop sign on a black top town called Valrico in Florida but chose to bus in to the inner city for high school to study health care.
Went to college in the North Georgia mountains where I decided to become a middle school teacher.
Moved to a different stop sign on a black top town called LaFayette in Georgia where I have been ever since.

many thanks for your comments on my (pathetic) blog. I've never tried kale so this is an interesting idea. I sure do need to have something tasty to munch on that will satisfy my cravings. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for your comment on my blog...good news is the plateau is *knock on wood* broken. I can sympathize with your PCOS diagnosis...I spent earlier this year getting evaluated for the same thing. While I don't have enough clinical markers for a diagnosis, it seems likely I have a mild version. I decided to let it be a challenge to overcome rather than something that holds me back. Hope you have too. Best of luck!
