Getting a new groove going

So, Florida it is. I'm more or less permanently here (as much as I can be) and it's good. I kinda feel like I'm coming up for air and like my goals are attainable once more. Here I go!

My Goals:
I need to lose at least 100 lbs. I want to be able to keep up with my grandson, and breathe more easily.

My Program:
Right now I'm trying to eliminate wheat from my diet. I find that it makes me bloated and "gassy" and when I eat properly, I don't have that problem. In studying the issue, it seems that I have some sort of celiac issue. Well, that is a challenge since wheat is in so many things.

Personal Information:
Got lifted out of New Orleans on 9-2-05, and my life hasn't been the same since. I'm remaining in Florida to be near my grandson.
Update: I've returned to New Orleans.
1/09: I am in Florida now to stay. I'm working in a hospital that is part of the corporation that I worked for in New Orleans. They were amazing in getting us help and a fresh start when Katrina hit us. I am forever grateful.

Other Information:
I love to read. Favorite authors include: Shari Tepper, Janet Evanovitch, John Steinbeck, Dean Koontz, Sue Grafton.

Favorite movies: "West Side Story", "Terminator 2", "Now, Voyager"

I crochet and sketch (note how both activities are sedentary?) and I need to develop a more active hobby.

What a small world! Just HAD to come by & say "Hi!"
I saw your post on "Happy Hippies" about the love in & saw the picture of Jackson Square! I spent many a Sunday afternoon there drinkin' wine & singing songs. I left N.O. long before Katrina, but it breaks my heart every time I think of it. My brother is there now visiting his Grands & Great-grands. No one lives "in the city" anymore. I live in Daytona Beach & love it here but New Orleans will always be my home (at least in my heart!) I'm a retired nurse, my first job was at East Jeff General in ICU & once upon a time my Mom worked at Charity Hospital.

Being a Katrina Survivor sucks at length but I keep the faith by telling myself, three out of five children may have moved to other states, but at least none of us lost our lives.

It seems that a large number of my friends who stayed in New Orleans during the storm are physically ill. One of our coworkers just passed away last week. The doctors all say its due to pre-existing conditions, but, hmmm, the conditions did not appear until the storm cleared ... We will never know.

However on a cheerier note, congrats on your weight loss and keep on posting on the Big Easy Team, we need ya!
