Hi, I am a 46 yr old divorced white woman from Athens, Ga. I am a Registered Nurse but am currently disabled after having failed back surgery as of January 2007. I recently had an anterior cervical fusion of 3 discs ( in my neck) and complete thyroid removal in the summer of 2008. I have improved a little more from these surgeries, which is truely a godsend!!

Its my hope that I will lose weight in order for me to be relieved of some of my neck, arm, leg and back pain. So this is going to begin my journey of becoming healthy again and hopefully to be able to get control of my pain so that I can maybe return to working as a nurse again.

My Goals:
1. To be able to get a cute outfit in the misses section again
2. To get control over my pain so that I can go back to work again
3. To be able to go out with my boyfriend in public and not feel so self- conscious of how I look
4. To feel more like my age than feeling like an old woman
5. To be able to play with my grandchildren when the day comes that Im blessed to get them from my children *smiles*

My Program:
Begin walking on the treadmill slowly until I can build up to 10 min a day. Eat more fruits and vegetables and cut out the cookies and sweets. Only eat 3 meals a day with a snack and cut out snacking constantly at night.

Personal Information:
Im originally from Pa but moved to Georgia 14 yrs ago for a nursing job. I currently am divorced and live in Athens. I have 3 children. A daughter that is 24yrs old that recently moved back home again to get her life straight again. She will hopefully returning to school next fall. I just pray she does something with her life other than what she is currently doing!!, a daughter that is 22 yrs old that attends UGA. She had a beautiful daughter November 25 named Olivia. She got married about a month ago to Olivia's dad, so she is very happy!! :), and a son that is 17yrs old that lives with his father.

Other Information:
Im a Registered Nurse and have been a RN for 26 yrs. I have worked in labor and delivery for most of my career. But, I had a bad ruptured disc and had back surgery in 2005. In 2007, I was diagnosed with Failed back surgery syndrome which is mainly nerve damage causing excruciating pain in my lower back and down my legs. I have been inactive which has caused me to gain 40 or more lbs. This is the heavist I have been my entire life which has caused me to be very depressed. I have decided that It is time to gain control over my life because I am too young to lay here and die!!!! I found this site and hope to have lots of friends to help me along the way as well as me being a friend in return.

"The finish line is not the end. The finish line is the beginning. Standing at the starting line gives you permission to hope. Taking the time to train, putting in the mileage, making the changes in your life, and taking the risks has given you consent to hope for the best in yourself. The miracle is not that you finished, but that you had the courage to start." ~ John Bingham

I've come to realize that the difference in success or failure is not how you look, how you dress, or how you're educated. It's how you think! Mac Anderson
