When I woke up on January 3rd, I knew I was ramping up into a hypomanic state. It was my last day of work before I entered into an intensive outpatient program for my increasingly difficult to control bipolar. I felt horrible and impulsive. I didn't want to go to work because the anxiety was nearly crippling me. I didn't want to take my anxiety meds because I knew I wouldn't be able to work since they make me sleepy. Driving 45 minutes in lake effect snow is not safe under the best conditions let alone drowsy from anti-anxiety meds. I didn't know what to do. I had to go to work. So, I did some yoga. I forgot how much I love doing yoga. When I finished, I felt calmer and better able to handle the anxiety and hypomania pounding through my body. I also decided that I wasn't going to buy an iphone until I had lost 25 pounds. So, recommitting to SparkPeople. Recommitting to being physically healthy. Committing to being mentally healthy. It's a lot of commitment for one person in one day, but it makes me feel calm to think about it.
